    We were there for a week in March 2009. The weather was great. Beautiful location on a nice beach. The staff and management were outstanding and went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. The standard rooms were a bit smaller than we expected from the pictures on the web site so we upgraded to a suite, which was wonderful. There are no other restaurants in the area so you will be eating all your meals there. Food was generally good but more variety would have been nice. The Italian items such as pasta and pizza were outstanding. Prices were reasonable for a Caribbean island. The wireless Internet worked well so I was able to keep in contact and work a bit on my laptop computer. There are several beaches on the island for good snorkeling and we took a boat trip to the Tobago Cays, which was pretty close by. All in all a very nice place for a quiet vacation.

Location. Located on Canouan Island in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, the Tamarind Beach Hotel and Yacht Club opened in 1995 and is located on more than one mile of white-sand beach, two blocks from town, and two miles from Canouan Airport.

Hotel Features. The Tamarind Beach Hotel and Yacht Club faces the Caribbean and is surrounded by tropical gardens and palm trees. The beach in front of the hotel provides lounge chairs and palm trees for shade. A variety of non-motorized water sports, including windsurfers, kayaks, paddle boats, hydro bikes, and snorkeling equipment, are available free of charge. The hotel's restaurants, the Palapa Restaurant and the Pirate Cove Bar and Restaurant have thatched roofs and offer open-air dining. The Palapa features Italian and Caribbean cuisine. The Pirate Cove Bar and Restaurant features light fare and live music and dancing three times a week. There is an on-site casino, full-service spa, golf course, and sailing available.

Guestrooms. The guestrooms of the Tamarind Beach Hotel and Yacht Club feature Brazilian wood paneling and provide personal in-room safes, mini bars and refrigerators. Bedding includes Frette linens. Guestrooms also offer balconies or patios providing scenic views of the Caribbean and are furnished with lounge chairs and tables. Bathrooms include bathrobes.

Expert Tip. Located close to the Tamarind Beach Hotel and Yacht Club sits the Tobago Cays. This attractions consists of five uninhabited islands near Canouan and are home to great varieties of reef-dwelling fish, land iguanas and other wildlife. The waters off the islands offer secluded snorkeling and swimming and can be reached from Canouan.
