Not the nicest hotel but well worth the money for the location.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 2 of 47Neighborhood Comments
It was a little shady. I didn't quite feel safe shen I was outside getting ready to check in to the hotel. I would have prefered to be in another location. I guess the price was right though...

Trip Type: With Friends Review 3 of 47Bad neighborhood
The (tiny) room was ok for the price. I can't really complain about the service or overall cleanliness either. But at the edge of the TL, I wouldn't recommend going out at night unless you're adventurous. I returned to the hotel late at night greeted by a crowd of bums. I ended up cancelling the second night of my stay. I would not consider staying anywhere in this neighborhood.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 4 of 47Great Value
3 night stay and no problems. Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Room was small but comfortable. Location was fine (it's San Francisco so expect panhandlers.) Downside - Parking is expensive so use public transportation and save $ on rental and parking.

Trip Type: Romance Review 5 of 47Oh My God!
So basically the towels had holes in them and were the size of bath mats, there was about a foot of room between the opposite wall and the bed, there version of a hair dryer is a dog grooming dryer. Cob-webs hanging from the cealing and lots of homeless people outside the hotel door. If you want a hotel room that's xsmall then this is the one for you!

Trip Type: Rest and Recreation Review 9 of 47great room for the price
Very friendly front desk staff, for the price we paid it was quite clean and comfortable, we recieved a free breakfast every morning and the bathroom was quite large. The outside may not look like much but the room was clean comfortable and a great price for the San Francisco area and was close to all the attractions around Union Square.

Trip Type: Family Review 10 of 47Great central location
This is an older hotel, the room was one of the smallest we've ever stayed in, but we didn't go to SF to stay in the room. The elevator was out of order the entire weekend, but this wasn't a problem for us - good exercise. The location is very central. It's a couple of easy walking blocks from Union Station, BART, Theatres, Chinatown. If you go one block west to Jones (edge of the Tenderloin - ie evidence of homeless, drug dealers, prostitutes - no one bothered us though) there are a number of good (and inexpensive) "fast-food" Pakistani restaurants. This is a good, very affordable budget hotel, and I look forward to staying here again soon.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 12 of 47Great Location and Price for Simple Comfortable Room
This hotel exceeded my expectations especially after I told this location might be sketchy part of town. This was great price for San Fran, great central location (next door to a Hilton if that comforts you & a great Irish bar called Foley's). Walk a couple blocks (which are not even quarter mile blocks) and you are in Union Square. Hotel room was not big but plenty of room for 2 of us. Clean, shower/bathroom worked great, and hotel staff was more than helpful, dressed nice, and very polite/helpul. Was there for 4 full days and had lots of valuables in the room and felt completely safe and left them out without even hiding.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 14 of 47Great location for the price
I am the type of traveler who doesn't spend a lot of time in the hotel room. Basically, it's a place to sleep, shower and store my luggage. I'd rather explore the city I'm in. Given that, the Super 8 in Union Square was a great bargain. Close to BART, Muni, cable cars, Union Square, Chinatown, SF MOMA. I couldn't have chosen a better, more central location. If I wanted a cab, I walked half a block to the Hilton or flag one down. The neighborhood is borderline Tendorloin so there are some sketchy folks hanging around but it's always smart to be a wary tourist. I would stay here again if the price was right.
