Trip Type: Family Review 17 of 95Great location
This hotel is in the best location - easy to King Street (for dinners), the PATH underground shopping, Union Square, quick walk to CN Tower. Liked everything about the hotel, but that the room had a heavy smell of paint....which needed to be aired out.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 19 of 95A little pricey...
This hotel was adequate. It was clean, it had a great location, and the service was good. The guests in one of the neighboring rooms were pretty loud during the night, but I called the front desk and they sent someone up right away - noise wasn't an issue after that! However, I thought that the price I paid was a little high for the size room we got. Overall decent hotel.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 20 of 95Excellent location in downtown
Rooms were very clean and the decoration looked good, although the two bed-room was relatively small. The elevator used to shake when stopping at any floor. The location is excellent if you're looking for something in downtown area and it's just about a block away from the nearest subway station (Union), which is pretty convenient for transportation.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 21 of 95Good Value
The hotel is in a great location, but our room looked out on a back alley and was dark, even with the windows open. I would recommend this hotel for young students/people who are looking for a good, cheap place to stay in downtown Toronto. We referred to it as our "Hostel", but it was very clean.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 22 of 95Great location, small room
We're not very picky people. We chose this hotel because it was the cheapest in the downtown that night and we spent a lot of money the night before at a specialty hotel. Overall, it was an ok one night stay. The hotel was well kept and our room was clean but very small. I didn't mind it except for the fact that our luggage took up almost all of the open space in the room (2 small suitcases), so it became a bit difficult to manuever around the room. Also, hard to find room to put your toiletries in the bathroom. Very very little counter space. We had little interaction with the hotel staff but check in and check out were a breeze. The location is VERY convenient to all downtown attractions, restaurants and bars. My biggest complaint is that the air conditioner literally sounded like we were sleeping next to a locomotive. It was extrememly loud and made for a less than restful night of sleep. Could just be that room, though. Good for a one night stay tops.

The Deluxe Queen room was extrodinarly small. The room service food was a lot to be desired. One of the front lobby reception representive was very rude.

Trip Type: Business Review 26 of 95Great location - tiny rooms
Ask for a view. With alot of rooms available, they still stuck me in the end room on the lowest floor oerlooking the alleyway of trashcans.

Trip Type: Romance Review 27 of 95Great Hotel - Great Location
We were in town for the World Baseball Classic at Rogers Centre, but we also spent a lot of time wondering around downtown Toronto. It was the perfect location! So close to the theatre district, and to Rogers Centre. We walked everywhere, but if you wanted to take the subway, there's a stop only a block away. I was very happy with my experience there. If I ever have another reason to go back to Toronto, I'll definitely stay there again.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 28 of 95not a good neighborhood
Hotel was fine but my car was broken into in the parking lot next door (the only parking near the hotel). Not a great experience or neighborhood.

The Strathcona is a good hotel in a good location, with no pretensons to be fancy. Good value for money, with the added bonus of very pleasant staff.
