Trip Type: Romance Review 1 of 235Biggest Mistake Ever!!!!!!!!
I was very disappointed in the smell and overall look of the hotel. It was totally misrepresented on the hotel's website. My first room's bathroom was completely disgusting. Toilet, nasty, sink, gross, carpet shameful. I switched to a slightly cleaner room but the damage had already been done as far as I was concerned. We also had no choice but to pay for internet access. It didn't matter if you brought a laptop or not. That's just wrong. The stay did not ruin my time in New Orleans but I would have enjoyed it better if my stay with St James was nicer...Good Luck.

Trip Type: Romance Review 2 of 235Great Location, Very Nice!
We love the location of the St. James. It is in walking distance of the French Quarter,(and many other things) but not so close that you hear the noise and crowds at night. The employees were very friendly and helpful, and the room was nicely decorated and clean. There are a couple of nice restaurants close by that serve excellent and affordable meals. I would definitely recommend the St. James!

Trip Type: With Friends Review 3 of 235Great Room for a quick stay
Hotel had nice charm, service was great. Room was small but fine since it was just a one night stay. Bathroom was very very tiny.. ok to use but wish it would have been bigger. Got a room right by the elevator so heard every time someone would come in or out during the night/morning. Great for a quick non-family trip.. would not recommend for extended stay or bringing children.

Trip Type: Romance Review 5 of 235great staff
We were surprised by the small pool, more like a watering hole. The hotel staff were excellent! Very friendly and eager to help. Within a good walking distance of the main attractions. I like to walk so something to consider. We were also surprised by the safe and internet fee that were mandatory. There is a $25 a day parking or take your chances parking on the street. Bits of info that would have been nice to know in advance.

Trip Type: Romance Review 7 of 235Fantastic Room, Great Location
We visited NOLA, Valentines Weekend 09. The hotel was walking district to Bourbun Street but far enough from the madness that we could sleep peacefully at night. We had also been given a perfect room on the top floor of the main building. It had a private, rooftop patio that opened from french doors. We would definately stay here again!

Trip Type: Romance Review 8 of 235Great for Couples
This historic hotel was really nice, and I would highly recommend it for couples. The rooms would be a little to small for a family. It was in a very convenient location. Close enough to the French Quarter, downtown, and the Warehouse District, but not so close that you were bothered by the noise. The only problem was the parking because it took up to 15 minutes for them to get your car once you asked for it.

Trip Type: Romance Review 9 of 235Okay Stay
Decent location for all activities in New Orleans. Able to walk to most venues. Shortage of towels during high capacity days lead to early AM calls from housekeepting to put dirty towels outside of room Super small pool should be a goldfish tank, not suitable for any relaxation. Basically, a short stay place to lay your head, but not enjoy the comforts of the room. Front Desk person, Frances, was extremely helpful and pleasant.

Trip Type: Romance Review 10 of 235Great Hotel
This is an older building that has been modernized into a hotel. The service is outstanding. The French Quarter, Aquarium, Riverwalk, and Nat'l D-Day Museum are all within walking distance.

Trip Type: Romance Review 11 of 235Fair hotel for the money
St. James hotel was a fair hotel for a quick getaway at a reasonable rate. The pool was absolutely disgusting and I am not sure what is growing in there. But the service was very nice and accomodating. Its a short walk to the French Quarter, RiverWalk and Harrahs Casino.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 12 of 235Watch out for the "hidden fees"
The hotel had several "nominal charges" that were charged upon checkout, specifically an internet access fee of $4.95 per night and $2.95 per night for use of safe. We neither used these services nor were told about having access to them (or that they woudl be charged) when we checked in. The air conditioning in the hotel was not very good - it took 5 hours to cool the room from 77 to 68, at night. I can't imagine what it's like in August when New Orleans hits the upper 90s.
