Great location for convience, not for sleeping. Steet noises came right through the window 4:30am. Finally quiet, then came the street sweepers at 5am. Old, and not in a charming way, this hotel was not worth the convience of its location. There are other far better places; however, last minute plans called for desperate measures.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 3 of 237Great location
Clerks were very helpful. Hotel is only two short blocks from Bourbon St. But you can also here all the noise in the hotel room from the street. The hotel rooms are small and you can only get AC or heat in room, so if you want to change the temp you can't, you just have to turn the unit off. They also charge $12.00 fee for internet( which did not work) cocktails (they cant serve, they dont have a liquor license) and for cold breakfast (which we were never told they had.) If you arent going to be in the hotel room very much, this is a great location to sleep and shower. I would'nt have paid anymore than we did tho to stay at this hotel.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 5 of 237Would Work Well As A Fraternity House
When you review the ratings on this hotel, you will notice a wide range, both very bad and good, and the reason is that most of the rooms are very badly maintained while a VERY few are decent and actually a great deal for the price only because of the location. I know this because I overheard the desk mgr checking in one of their frequent guests, saying they were getting one of the "good" rooms. Beware if you get a "bad" room like mine, you will have to deal with a nasty bathroom (the toilet leaked water all over the floor constantly, a shower that hardly worked), and an ac system that when on freezes you because it is either on or off (and off is not an option with the humidity there). While I was there the internet NEVER worked and they tell you it is being worked on (wink) and the elevator was out one day which was very pleasant (not) if you are on the 5th floor. If this is not enough, when you check out, you get the biggest surprise on your bill which will contain extra fees totaling approximately $15-20 per night on top of what you paid to hotels.com which I think should be against their rules. Bottom line: great location, you probably have to tip the desk mgr to get one of the "good" rooms, expect no internet availability, and the published rate you pay on hotel.com excludes $15-$20 a night hotel surcharge.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 6 of 237Great location, don't expect much else...
Well I booked my hotel here on hotels.com and when I arrived, I wasn't "in the system" so my friends who stayed down the street @ the Omni Royal on St. Louis, got in right away while I waited in the lobby for them to find my reservation. So after 15-20minutes, I get to my room which was fine, I can't log into the internet, I found it, but couldn't get online and the front desk was no help, all they could say was "hmm, google???" yea thanks..... and when I go to check out, I get a $34 bill for electric and service (cleaning), isn't that in my hotels.com bill? Whatever I had a blast in New Orleans...

Trip Type: Business Review 7 of 237You reviewers made it sound HORRIBLE! (why?)
I found the hotel to be a little middle of the road. Not fancy, but not a dump. It's at a SUPER convenient location in the french quarter so that helped a lot, however it is a very old building so if that's not your thing then... I didn't have a lot of money to spend, I needed somewhere close to the club I was DJing at, and I don't mind much as long as the sheets are clean (and they were), so this was perfect for me. Definitely will be back.

Overall good stay. Good room, but the air conditioning failed to respond to controls. Extra fees for "amenities and parking."

Trip Type: Business Review 10 of 237Not for Business Travelers traveling by automobile.
I arrived alone by automobile. There was no place to park while checking in. I had to go to a public parking lot and pay to park while checking in. Then the hotel lot was 2 blocks from the hotel. Not convenient at all. The room had no desk at which to work nor did it have a chest or dresser in which to unpack clothing. I had to literally live out of my luggage. Also the internet did not work. I had to go to a sister hotel a block away to get internet coverage in the lobby there. The room was clean and comfortable but that is all that I can say good about it. BTW, even though I complained about the lack of internet coverage and was told it would be taken off my bill I was still charged for it. I had to again ask for it to be taken off the bill when I checked out.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 11 of 237Better than others for the price
The hotel is within 1 block of boubon. My room was quiet, spacious and clean. The elevator was noisey (typical of older hotels in New Orleans), but my room wasn't near it. The bed was comfortable. Front Desk was helpful and the courtyard was very nice. I would definitely stay there again.

Trip Type: Family Review 12 of 237Awful!!!!!!
Front desk was rude. Room was freezing and was scared to touch thermometer that it would quit working. Found a shoe from previous person in room. Paid for internet and didn't work. Parking is a joke, I mean a big joke. It sucked. It was a roach motel without the roaches.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 13 of 237Needs inprovement
This hotel was very much in need of renovation. It should have been closed until this process was done. The room was dank and dark. The furniture was old and scarred. The television remote did not work. The bathroom was moldy in the corner of the shower tiles and above the soap tray and there was no air vent. I had a tight budget but this was not a deal!!! I was camping in this hotel!

Trip Type: Romance Review 14 of 237Had so much fun!
Location of the hotel was perfect! Took us a few minutes to find it, but we did. The valet took about 15 minutes, which was very annoying. We ate at a restaurant right next door I think called, Oceana. I can't really remember the name but it was very good. When we returned to the room after dinner, noticed the ac was not working, turned it on and off and smoke came out of the vent which smelt horrible.Tried to call down to the front desk, and the phone did not work. So we walked down and told the staff, and was moved to another room within 5 minutes. Checkout was very easy, although the valet did take a very long time again, and the valet cost more than half of the room.

Trip Type: Romance Review 15 of 237Met Our Expectations
The hotel met our expectations, especially after reading past guest reviews. The hotel is definitely located 1/2 a block from Bourbon Street(which was the best). The staff was friendly, especially the bartender who took the time to suggest a couple of jazz clubs. The complimentary breakfast consisted of muffins and coffee, which was a decent start to the day. All in all it was a good experience and we will have no problems staying there again.
