Trip Type: Romance Review 2 of 10Very luxurious but a bit of a hike
I stayed here for one night with my boyfriend after a week of hostels around France. They treated us very well, and the room was nicer than I thought it would be. We stayed in a "luxury" room which was definitely worth the extra money. The concierge was very friendly and everyone spoke english well. It's in a bit of a business district, but there is a shopping mall nearby and its only about 10 extra minutes on the metro. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for romance or luxury in Paris. The only complaint was that the shower door didn't seal so the shower got water everywhere. Also, the paint on the ceiling above the shower was peeling.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 3 of 10Poor and Greedy Service
We stayed at the Sofitel Paris La Defence Centre from 12/27 - 12/30. We had a very disappointing experience. Beginning on the second day of our three day stay, the hotel water became too highly chlorinated and abrasive to drink or shower with. When we complained to the management, along with numerous other guests, they recognised the problem and promised to take it up with the building engineer. 48 hours later, upon our departure, the problem remained unresolved. We were unable to shower, brush our teeth or drink water in our rooms for 2/3 of our stay. The management did not offer to relocate us, supply us with adequate water or compensate us for the problem.

Hotel was excellent. Bar staff a little slow but otherwise great stay. La Defense was only a short Metro ride to anywhere in the city. Front desk staff very quick to help. Use the metro to tour the city, get Euros before you leave, this helps alot when you arrive.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 6 of 10Outstanding Hotel
This hotel is in a business district. The metro station is close, though, and you can get into the city... takes 15-20+ minutes, depending on the sights you want to see. Food at the hotel is just okay and VERY expensive. Water with our dinner was 10 Euros (about $14) for example. WiFi is only available on the first few floors -- something I asked about but they didn't tell me about until I was settled in my room. Also, they sell WiFi cards (scratch-off numbers) and they're vaoild only 6pm-6am or thereabouts. (There was a desk in the room with hi-speed internet, though.) The rooms were very comfortable, especially the beds. The lower floors, by the way (the ones with WiFi) have showers only. My room (on the 7th floor, of 8) had a great, huge tub. Overall it was nice, but I would book elsewhere if I wanted to see the sights. All Sofitels are very nice hotels.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 8 of 10Sofitel La Defense, Paris
Excellent high quality hotel. Great beds and linens- a real comfort to plop down on after a long day. Friendly staff that spoke english all the way from the valet to front desk. Great location out of the beaten tourist path, yet with a metro stop right next to the hotel that makes it very easy to get around to all the sights. It appears to be primarily a busines hotel for the La Defense corporate centre area, and the weekend rate we got from Hotels.com for our stay was a tremendous bargain for this high quality hotel. I fully recommend it.

Trip Type: Romance Review 9 of 10Overall Hotel and Service Needs Improvement
Do not use the phone even if you have a phone card because they charge you per minute for the "connection fee", per the hotel manager. There is nothing in writing or verbal which tells you of this fee so you must pay it. If you need assistance from anyone other than the front desk and you don't speak french,ie) room service, you will not get it.
