Trip Type: Romance Review 16 of 28caution on plumbing
I had read here that there was an issue about rotten smells coming from the bathroom. Ours was the same way. Only on the last day did we look under the sink (there was a removable panel) to find a pool of collected waste water. It would reek of waste (especially after using the bathroom). It wouldn't be so bad after showering (since the water was mostly soapy water from the tub). Other than that, a great hotel in the Shinjuku area. Right next to the party places. Not the best for kids, but for nightlife, it's walking distance (and only 25 dollars for a cab ride back from Shibuya (in case you decide to train it there and stay out after midnight when the trains stop.) If you don't need your rooms cleaned, turn in a slip to the desk and you also get a $5/person/day voucher to be used at the hotel's shops.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 17 of 28Great Hotel
The only minor concern was that you could not get breakfast before 7:30 and only a buffet was available. Fortunately we found a nice coffee shop just a door away from the hotel

Trip Type: Business Review 18 of 28Excellent location
This hotel was conviniently located 5 minutes walk from the Shinjuku train station and JR Lines connection to Narita airport which is about 1 hour away from Shinjuku. Hotel was well maintained and staff were knowledgeable and curtious. Hotel did not have the room requested when reservation ws made through hotel.com and asked I I can wait about an hour for them to get me a room. After 14 hours on a plane and about 2 hours to get to it, I was in no mood to wait so they happily upgrated me to a bigger room. Well bigger to eastern standards. Room was neatly arrange and very clean. I was very satisfied and recommend this to anyone who will listen.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 20 of 28Great location, Tiny Rooms
We stayed at the Shinjuku Prince for four nights in November 2007. The room was clean and comfortable, having been recently renovated. Like many hotel rooms in Japan, it was extremely small with no chair or desk. The location was excellent (within easy walking distance of Kabuki-cho, shopping, and Shinjuku Station) and the customer service was very helpful. I would recommend this hotel for singles and couples on vacation, but not for families with children or those traveling for business.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 21 of 28outstanding hotel
Arrived with mixed ideas of what was in store. Pleasantly surprised at the closeness to Shinjuku Train Station. The staff was efficient and pleasant and spoke English fairly well. Suggest the renovated rooms which are large, for Japan, and provide Eng. TV; hair dryers, etc. Close to shopping and all sorts of eateries. Would definitely stay here again and would suggest it to any travelers regardless of age.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 22 of 28Only for the Seedy
The location of this hotel was very convenient in terms of access to the train station. The lobby was clean. Aside from those two positives, the rest was all very negative. They try to charge me for the hotel even though I had paid in full via this website. The carpeting looks like it's been there for 30 years and is simply a patchwork of carpet pieces. This is the case in the room and also in the hallway. My wife and I felt so uncomfortable with the cleaniness that we made sure that we wore our own slippers (ones we brought ourselves) whenever we were in the room. The staff did not seem like they cared to help at all. Rooms are tiny, but that's to be expected for Tokyo. This is great if your here purely for the red light district or just passing through. I would not recommend this place for any other reason. This place is a glorified motel.

The hotel staff was extremely helpful in locating shops of interest in the area. If price and location are a consideration, (and when isn't it?) you can't do any better! It's close to JR Shinjuku station and right above the Seibu Shinjuku metro. Plus Pepe, the shopping center which it's connected to has a great dollar shop on the 8th floor.

Trip Type: Romance Review 27 of 28Stunning Accomodations
After a nine day stay in various parts of Japan, we were afraid that we'd end up in another tiny, but lovely, Japanese hotel. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at the Shinjuku Prince and had been upgraded to a suite because our standard remodeled double was not available. The room was absolutely beautiful (great remodel designs!!) with a perfect view of Tokyo. Obviously the upgrade doesn't reflect everyone's experiences, but we were also happy with the hotel in general. The location is close to subway lines, good restaurants, and major department stores. The service and amenities were great. It was such a nice place that we wished we could have stayed another night.
