Good location great price

The hotel is very near freeway access and the Tacoma Mall. Great central location for the traveler that wants to drive around town but doesn't want to wander around town looking for places to eat.

Needs Improvement

I believe it is time for a update in the motel. The room smelled of mildew and the carpets through out the motel were dirty. The beds are very uncomfortable. My husband and I woke up with back aches. One thing that was good, was the breakfast and the ladies who helped. The pool was ok. The steam room was disgusting with a smell I can't describe. I was especially dissapointed due to the fact this is a Shilo Inn and known to be quite nice, but this one wasn't. I guess you can say I will never stay at Shilo Inn in Tacoma again.

GOOD HOTEL FOR THE PRICE

THE HOTEL WAS NICE, CLEAN AND COMFORTABLE AND THE POOL WAS A GOOD SIZE AND SO WAS THE HOT TUB. I WOULD STAY HERE AGAIN FOR SURE.

Not Happy in Tacoma

Upon checking in the front desk person was rude and told me the only way I could check in was if I had my confirmation number. After going to my car to get the confirmation #, the clerk kept her back turned to me and was busy doing something else. After a few minutes I spoke up and told her that I had the number she rudely said, "oh I already have it". Then she told me she would not be able to give me a receipt because they don't print them thru hotels.com. It took me 3 days to get a receipt from Hotels.com, which was stressful considering that if I didn't get a receipt I would have to pay for it myself (my company picked up the bill, but not without a reciept.

outstanding hotel

The hotel was great and the staff was excellent. If I had to stay in that area again, I would recommend this hotel. The front desk clerks was great.

Great room for the money

It was easily accessible from I-5. It was clean and comfortable. Continental Breakfast provided was very convenient.

Bring your own shampoo

The hotel is well-maintained and clean. It is located between the freeway and a busy street, but with the fan on, the background noise was not bothersome (much quieter than the children in the room above me). The continental breakfast was less than impressive (mainly packaged muffins and pastries, cereal with whole milk, coffee, bagels)--if you are on a diet, grab some fruit and skip the rest. Having a microwave and fridge in the room helps with the food situation. But my main complaint is the shampoo and conditioner provided by the hotel. It might be okay for people with short or thin hair, but I had to use two of the small bottles of each on my long hair, and it left a nasty residue. Just bring your own, and otherwise the hotel is just fine for the price. The water temperature also fluctuates a lot, but no worse than at other hotels.

Not bad for a night

The staff was nice and friendly. When I got to the room I was not what I expected. It was not anything to write home about. The bathroom was small. Hotel does has a 24 hour pool, hot tub, and excerise room which is nice. For the most part this hotel was good for a night. I wouldn't want to say for any longer than that.
