Trip Type: Not Provided Review 2 of 28Nice modern hotel, but..
..I was disappointed to see how much the hotel has to "defend itself" from guests and tourists. I like the sign at the elevators saying that "Only Hotel Guests Allowed Past This Point", but then realized the situation when I read the notice in the room stating that the mini bar will be empty as of 9/30. Clearly guests were stealing drinks and snacks, which put the hotel on the defensive. Theres also a clear notice on the toilet as to why it doesnt heat up, and theres a reason for that, too. I feel bad that the Excel has to put up with such guests/tourists, but I guess thats the business. The hotel itself is very clean and the view from the 24th floor over Shibuya Crossing was amazing. The front desk was happy to accomodate this request upon check in and check out was a breeze. Overall a great experience.

Trip Type: Romance Review 4 of 28BEst Location, amazing service!
If you're looking for a central place in a trendy part of Tokyo it cannot better than this. Located literally on top of Shibuya station it is one of the most convenient train hubs in the city. The hotel room was very spacious and clean. The concierge service was top notch, from detail directions to the Tsukiji market to late night assistance to a hospital visit (long story)they helped without any hesitation. I was a bit aged and appliances are somewhat old (tube television) but fully operational. Yes, it is loud and crazy right when you step a foot outside of the hotel, but inside is a oasis of tranquility. Did I mention the view? Stunning!!!

Trip Type: Family Review 10 of 28Great Service and Great Location
The location was superb. On top of a mall and a major train station. Plenty of restaurants in walking distance as well as nightlife. I would definitely stay here again. The staff and service was excellent from the front desk to housekeeping. I could not have asked for more.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 11 of 28Great hotel, convenient location
I had asked for a triple room and it was a true triple (unlike another hotel, where they converted the sofabed into the 3rd bed). Great location and very helpful staff.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 12 of 28Nice Hotel, Great Location!
Hotel is rad! Right above the train station and in the middle of everything. Couldn't ask for much more. The only complaint i had was that the hair dryer was bad, a girl needs a good hair dryer! So girls be prepared.;) Other than that everything was great, service was nice, the hotel and rooms were in great condition. View was epic! Perfect way to start the trip because your in the heart of it all- think times square times 10!

Trip Type: Family Review 13 of 28Great hotel, great location
The Shibuya Excel Tokyu is one of the few hotels in Tokyo that offers triple rooms. Each of the three beds was just a little smaller than an American double bed--very spacious for one person, and could probably accommodate 2 kids. The room itself was very large by Japanese standards. The room had a minibar/refrigerator, a small table, a large desk area and 4 chairs. The rooms are very well sound-proofed, too. The location is perfect, and those who say it's difficult to find must have been severely jet-lagged when they arrived. If you know you're looking for the ground floor of the Mark Center building, it's impossible to miss. This is a first-class hotel, and the staff was consistently helpful.

Trip Type: Family Review 14 of 28what a location!
the shibuya excel turned out to far exceed our imagination. saying it was near a major train station and some shops was enough to select it, given this was a first trip to japan and we were concernad about hauling suitcases from the airport and then later on to kyoto. the hotel has a huge indoor passage not only to shibuya station (one of the largest in tokyo) but also to a mall of quality shops, and another hall of terrific restaurants and coffee shops. below them all is the "food show," a permanent world of exquisite food vendors, the kind japan is famous for that are usually located under the department stores. the rooms are simple, spotless, with comfy beds and those heated-bottom-washing toilets, cable inc several channels in english, vending machines near elevators, and very formal, helpful english speaking staff. the on-site restuarant is high-end with a perpetual line becuase the food and the view are great. even the flower arrangements in the lobby, perfect and always changing, are a delight. this was listed as 3.5 stars but based on my extensive world travels this is certainly a solid 4-star experience.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 15 of 28Great Hotel for the Tokyo Area
1) Convenience: This hotel is pretty much connected to the JR station which means if the weather is bad, you don't have to even go outside. 2) Location: Its located right next to the famous Shibuya Crossing so if you like busy areas, bright lights, lots of people, this is the hotel to stay at. 3) Logistics: Limo Bus directly to and from NRT to this hotel. Extremely convenient because it's pretty bad having to carry luggage to different stops via subway and you definitely do not want to take a cab. 4) Room Space: Quite a bit of room space to put your stuff down.
