Trip Type: Romance Review 16 of 61Expensive but not impressive
We stayed 2 nights in Sheraton and 3 nights in neighboring hotel Royal Lahaina (Kai Tower) and we liked Royal Lahaina better. Though Sheraton is ok with cleanliness, room comfort etc..when it comes to getting around in and out of hotel room, the area of hotel is so huge that we had to take 3 different elevators from front desk to our room. We felt like we are in a maze figuring out the exit. When we seeked help with directions from people who stayed longer, even they felt the same (confused). We felt that it defies the very purpose of the vacation which is meant to be enjoying rather than spending time in understanding the architecture of hotel.

Trip Type: Romance Review 19 of 61The BEST beach, excellent service, great views
In May '09, I stayed 4 nights in Kaanapali, 2 at the Sheraton and 2 at another 4 star resort. While the other hotel's lobby, pool and restaurants were exceptional (while the Sheraton's were very nice), I preferred our stay at the Sheraton. First, the view was better, and I believe that many more of the Sheraton's rooms offer a partial ocean view. Second, the Sheraton has the best beach (an opinion staff at the other hotel shared with me), and the snorkeling is excellent. Third, the other hotel stay cost an extra $80/night for the hotel alone, but after other expenses (for example, the other hotel charged for internet access while it was free at the Sheraton), the other hotel stay ended up almost an extra $200/night (valet was $20, while the Sheraton free parking was more accessible, breakfast cost more at the other hotel, and we didn't even take advantage of room service or the mini bar). If we had stayed on site for more of the vacation, the extra touches at the other hotel may have been worth it, but Maui is a great place to explore and get out, not a place to be a shut-in. Thanks Hotels.com for saving me some $$$.

Trip Type: Business Review 22 of 61Not Bad
Great Room. Little isolated - great if on a romantic trip but for conference it felt like we walked a mile to get to the loby and funcition rooms as well as the beach and pool. OK it wasn't a mile just felt like it - we went up the elevator across then down the elevator and across some more. Other than the hiking daily and the extra resort fee that only included dsl hook up for room internet and pool towels it was a good experience. The staff was helpful and freindly.

Trip Type: Romance Review 23 of 61Great Hotel
The hotel itself was great. However, we booked a room with a balcony overlooking the water. When we got to the hotel, we were treated rudely and told that the wing that we booked was closed. The hotel manager the next day took care of everything, but I was disappointed that we were allowed to book a room that wasn't even available and weren't notified before we arrived.

Everything was wonderful! The staff, the breakfast buffet, the grounds! The food and drinks at the pool bar were a bit over priced. The location is wonderful for shopping and beach fun all in one day!

Trip Type: Romance Review 25 of 61Very Nice
A beautiful hotel, beautiful Kanappali beach, beautiful pool. Stayed 3 nights and was impressed. Would stay here again. One note...I have seen other reviews of this hotel that says they give you a Lei & such on check-in...I guess they don't do that anymore so don't expect it. Service staff at check-in was very matter of fact. And not pleased if you decide to carry your own bags and park your car...but then again almost all 4-star hotels are like that. They were upfront about the $25 a day fee, so I was prepared for it and understood why. Since I got a great rate that $25 was no big deal. But buy your own water. They have bottled water in the room at $5 each..WOW. Can get locally for $2.

Trip Type: Family Review 26 of 61Beautiful, friendly resort
My wife, 4-year-old daughter, and I stayed at the Maui Sheraton for about a week toward the end of March (spring break). It was our first trip to Hawaii. We had an excellent time, and the resort contributed considerably to our enjoyment. Location--There are several resorts in a row in this stretch of Maui. In my opinion, the Sheraton has the best location. It is right next to Black Rock, where you can watch cliff divers all day long and have an exceptional snorkeling experience. Some people will not want to be in a touristy area (and this is definitely a touristy area!), but if a resort is your thing, choose this one. We like to plant ourselves in one place for these vacations, and we were glad we chose this place. Service--I was amazed at how friendly and hospitable all of the staff was. Everyone said "Aloha" and several staff members remembered my name from day to day. Room--We had a deluxe ocean front room, which looked out to the ocean. Well worth it. It was a great view, which you could enjoy from the balcony. The room itself was maybe a little small, but it didn't really matter because there was so much to do outside. I'm not sure I would have loved a room that faced away from the ocean, but I suppose if you plan to be outside the whole time, you might not care. Grounds--Beautifully manicured grounds with lots of palm trees. An excellent pool (including a kiddie pool) that winds through the beach-side of the resort. And access to a clean beach with calm water. Food--Decent, not great. The best (by far) was the breakfast, which was free when using the coupons they gave us. The lagoon bar/grill and main restaurant were only okay, but there are many other choices for food on the island. Price--Here's the only slightly negative part: It was EXPENSIVE. In particular, the food was ridiculously expensive. We regularly spent $60 on lunch for three, and what we got was not worth it. There were also a few hidden fees (including the $24/day resort fee), but there w

Trip Type: Romance Review 27 of 61Customer Service is not existent
I had called the morning of our reservation to state that we were on a tour and would need to check in late. They replied that it would not be a problem. When we arrived, they had given our hotel room away. We were left with no choice but to accept a room in the farthest away complex, with 2 full beds- we were on our HONEYMOON!! not the way we wanted. we stated this to them and they replied they would see what could be done the next morning!! very rude!! We were supposed to get free breakfast with our rate but they would not acknowledge it and charged us.

Trip Type: Romance Review 28 of 61Great Location
This hotel is in a great spot for snorkeling or swimming ... planted right on Black Rock. The rooms and common areas were well-maintained and the staff was very friendly. The resort size was expansive enough to make you really feel like you had plenty of elbow room. Book in building 1 through 5 to be in the middle of the action, or in building 6 to have your own private retreat.

Trip Type: Romance Review 30 of 61Over priced
We stayed at some condo resort for less than half the price, in pretty much the same neighbourhood. In fact the rooms at our condo were much better and the view was also much better. This place is way over priced which is based on its brand name.
