Hotel Seaside Park near Nice has to be the worst hotel we have ever stayed in. The approach to it is appalling (along a weed- strewn, dilapidated road, with walls to either side full of graffiti). The hotel itself is in a state of decay. The steps leading to the entrance were crumbling and inside the foyer a cone was left on the floor to indicate water leaking from the roof. The room can only be described as filthy. The bedspreads were beyond disgusting. This is NOT a place you would ever want to stay in.

We recently stayed at the Seaside for several nights (Aug08). As I had researched it somewhat, it met my expectations (which admittedly were on the low side). I chose it based upon some budget constraints, desire to be within walking distance of the beach and mass-transit, and desire for a room large enough for our whole family to share (I have young children). The Hotel is a 3-star due to the nice pool and deck on its roof. Without it, it is really a two-star at best considering its condition and scant decor. The hotel does have free parking (nice thing in Europe) with a garage as well as limited outdoor parking which was fortunate so that we did not have to try to get the SUV in the garage. We were in a family suite that had three double beds, a decent table and chairs for dining, and featured a small kitchenette. The notion of the "family suite" does represent my principal gripe with the hotel. Because I brought my children with me to stay in our "family suite", we were assessed extra person fees which amounted to approximately 20 Euro per child, per night! When you do a search on hotels.com and rank by price, these fees are NOT represented so be wary when cost comparing that you truly are comparing apples-to-apples. You only see these fees once you have started the reservation process by selecting a room. Anyway, when I book and pay for a "family suite", I have this weird notion that it should include my children. Not only did we have several beds for our children and us, but our bed was in a small bedroom by itself - which was nice for some privacy. However, all that fit in our bedroom was pretty much just that bed and you sort of edged along the wall to get in bed. Still, it was nice to be a little separate from the children. The children's beds were in the rest of the room which also served as a living area (small TV - but who goes to the beach for that?) and dining area. Our bed was VERY firm which made for sometimes less than comfor
