Trip Type: Not Provided Review 1 of 47Great visit: outstanding staff
We came crawling in late, sleep-deprived and looking crumpled and grubby and the staff treated us like royalty. We did run into 'technical' difficulties: several lights were out in the room, no extra towels or blankets for our third person. And the elevators were having trouble. But a call to the front desk and the room was fixed up immediately. Both bed and couch were comfortable and the hotel quiet. We'd stay again.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 2 of 47Great location, amazing views, cozy rooms
Great location, amazing views (if you pay a little extra for the view rooms its worth it)! Comfortable rooms, ours had a kitchen (microwaive, fridge, stove), king size bed and TV in bedroom and living room, plus patio! The elevators were questionable, and room keys demagnatized easy. Location (especially if you're gay) was spectacular....great restaurants and everything you could need nearby. Gay bars within walking distance. Robson a 5 minute cab ride. We are going to stay here every time!

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 4 of 47Great Value/Great Service
Overall good value and friendly service attitude on part of all personnel. Central location, though can be rowdy street scene on week-ends. Noise is one issue to be aware of. The a/c units from the restaurant below, the trash trucks, deliveries in alley, etc. can be annoying. The windows are paper thin and they don't seal well, so the noise permeates. The room a/c and heat are funky to operate. Overall, a good value and reasonably comfortable. The apartment layout and the kitchen make it seem like your own little home. The new Canada Line subway stop is a convenient 10-12 block walk and well worth the $3.75 from the airport vs. $30+ for a taxi.

Trip Type: Family Review 5 of 47Good location
Studio suite is kinda small for more then 3 people. The pullout bed turns into a single. Vallet parking / parking in general is 20 dollars per night so make sure you take that into account for the price of the room. Hotel room was in need to minor repairs but overall clean. Location is inthe gay district of Vancouver however you can't beat the location if you are trying to do some sight seeing. Plenty of food locations and stores around. Hotel staff was friendly. Entrance to parking structure is behind the hotel in the alley way (kinda creepy at first). Pool was closed due to the rain season. If you have other choices of accomidations check those out first and keep this hotel as a backup.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 6 of 47Good location, but in gay area
Friendly and helpful staff, entry at back down side alley, secure parking (narrow spaces). Good location, close to downtown and several restaurants. Had to ask for extra bedding though booked for 3 people; staff provided extra shampoo without asking, and more teabags upon request. They also allowed us to checkout early but leave our car there for another hour while we walked downtown. We arrived after dark and ate at the Thai place opposite - plenty of places open. Went for a walk afterwards and saw several same-sex couples, bars, etc. Did not bother us, but would have been nice to know as we had an out-of-town guest with us. We chose this hotel as we needed a suite - online video looks a lot bigger and better than the suite. It served its purpose. Staff very helpful and foyer looks very nice.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 7 of 47Needs Elevators!
During my stay, one elevator was broken the entire time I was there. A second was not in service several times. This left just one elevator serving a 20+ story building. The stairways were closed for entry to the floors so elevator waits were up to 10 minutes long. The hotel should have opened up the stairs. It was very bad.

Trip Type: Romance Review 8 of 47Don't judge the outside of the hotel.
My partner and I had a wonderful stay at this hotel. We paid extra for the Penthouse Suite but it was totally worth it. The room was very nice, not too small with a small kitchen and a great big tub. We had a fabulous view of the city from our table and chairs on the balcony. I have to say the outside of the hotel looks old and run down but the inside is very nice. The staff was helpful as well. To those of you that don't know this hotel is in the "gay" area of Vancouver which was perfect for us but might not be for everyone. The restaurant in the hotel was wonderful too, great dessert and drinks.

Trip Type: Family Review 11 of 47YIKES!!
Human feces on the walls in bathroom, no hot water, parties all night every night and paper thin walls! Great location, but spend more and you'll get a better night sleep!

Trip Type: Business Review 13 of 47Great Hotel, Prompt Serrvice, Great Area
This is the Sandman on Davie st. There are 2 of them in Vancouver area. The hotel is located in the middle of the gay area around downtiwn Vancouver. Tons of shops, bars, restaurants and more. You get a decent size suite for the money you pay and the staff is very helpful. Clean, convenient and smart location.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 14 of 47In the Rainbow District
The hotel was nice enough. The room was a little dated, but over all not too bad. The one shocking thing was that Davie street is in the rainbow district. It's great if your prepared for it, but if you're not prepared for the leather S&M shop two doors down or have kids with you, it might be a little more then you're ready for. The location however is great. You're walking distance to everything, whether it be granville island or downtown shopping.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 15 of 47Sweet suite
The Sandman Suites on Davie is a great deal for a suite hotel. You get much more square footage for your dollar than at other Vancouver hotels. The compact kitchen and in-room washer/dryer can save you a few bucks too. My only complaint was with the "high speed" internet service. It was rather slow and stopped working each night after 9:30 pm or so.
