Trip Type: Not Provided Review 1 of 43old and smelly
We were first put ina aroom and hte rug was all wrinkled and puckered. Then when we complained our 2nd room was so small and old fashioned. Wouldn't recommend it. One of the bellboys was excellent but the rest of the staff was cold.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 3 of 43Loved the St. James-Albany
Four girls...four days in Paris and a great place to stay! Loved the staff who were all very helpful and friendly and the location was amazing! It's an older hotel but we thought it was great! There are charming shops all around the hotel, it's across from the Louve and a short walk to the Eiffel Tour and Champs de Elysee and Arch de Triomphe! I will definintely stay there again when I return to beautiful Paris!!

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 4 of 43Great Location
Perfect location. We did lots of walking and always managed to find our way back. The hotel was very nice, but eat and drink somewhere else. It was VERY expensive to do that there! And there are hundreds of patisseries and bistros within blocks.

Trip Type: Romance Review 5 of 43Terrible for the cost!
For the cost, this is a terrible hotel: - Supposedly "superior" room was tiny even by European standards. - Bathroom was small, ugly and smelled of sewer gas. - Wallpaper peeling off the walls, carpet torn and stained. - No Queen or King beds available in the entire hotel. - "Bed" was actually a matress on a platform. No headboard and no charm. No sheets, only a duvet. Lumpy pillows. - Very noisy at night. We could hear people talking, bodily noises and a staff elevator all night long. The only good thing is the location and that is it. Find somewhere else to stay, especially if you are willing to spend hundreds of Euros on a room.

Trip Type: Romance Review 6 of 43great hotel at great price
Hotel itself is beautiful. Our room was a little shabby (cracks in the tile in the bathroom), but overall clean. Bed was super comfy, and a delicious breakfast was included. Best part: location! It was about 2 blocks from the Louvre. Cafes nearby, and our tour with city rama took off from 2 blocks away.

Trip Type: Family Review 7 of 43Good room for the money
I rented a two room suite as I had a few family members staying with me. The hotel completed its lobby renovation and the lobby looks good. Some of the fit and finish of the hallways needs improvement. The room was well appointed. All of the hotel staff I encountered were proficient enough in English to be helpful. A few were fluent. The hotel is average for amenities, but is A+ for location. You are one block from the Louvre and a 10 minute walk to many sights including Notre Dame, Champs Elyse, etc. If you are looking for 5 star amenities this is not the place. However, I was looking for excellent location (as one of my family members couldn't do very long walks), clean room, helpful staff / concierge. The hotel delivered all of these. On the downside the hallways were a little shabby, but it wasn't a big deal. The hotel was perfectly suited to the price.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 8 of 43Not a 4 Star hotel!
I carefully researched 4 star hotels in convenient Paris locations. We travel a great deal and find the quality of our hotel to be important to the quality of our travel experience. This hotel was such a disappointment that it ruined our overall Paris visit. My husband is 6'3", the door to our hotel room was 6 feet tall. The door to the adjoining room, which our daughters were staying, was shorter than that! My husband smashed his head several times during our stay! The rooms were tiny and outdated. We certainly did not get any of the rooms that are pictured on their website. Eventhough we rented a standard room, we did not rent a substandard room!

Trip Type: Romance Review 9 of 43Great Choice
This was an outstanding hotel with a perfect location. It's directly across the street from the Tuileries and most sites are within walking distance. The the metro is also right across the street. Room was very nice, quite large by European standards, comfortable and clean although the shower is small and didn't have great water pressure. The staff is friendly, helpful and all spoke English. We felt very safe walking around throughout our stay in Paris. We would choose to stay at this hotel again. Any price in the $200 - $250 range is a deal.

Trip Type: Romance Review 11 of 43Do not stay here
I stayed at the St James because it was supposed to be the best. I was completely disappointed. We checked in and the A/C was broken in the room. I called the front desk and they said all they could do is give me a fan. They would not relocate us to a different room. That night we wanted to have some wine in the back outdoor restaurant. We sat down and waited, and waited, and waited for someone to bring us a menu. After about 25 minutes we decided to leave. Do yourself a favor and save your money for a hotel that wants your business. I sent a complaint letter to the hotel and they never contacted me. The hotel and management are a complete joke. There are some nice hotels down the street.

Convenient location, across the street from the Louvre and train station. The staff was helpful in obtaining show tickets for us.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 13 of 43Very Well located hotel. The staff is MOST helpful.
Overall I was satisfifed with my stay at this hotel. I must state though that the hotel is in process of renovations. The front salons were bare of furnishing. Not what was shown on the internet at all. The bedroom we were given was very small and the decors were tired. The bathroom was adequate and very clean. The room was airconditioned, the window was on a side street, yet the noise was minimum as they were double panes. The internet was easily accessible. The staff was very qualified and most helpful. The meals offered by the hotel though served in a very lovely inner courtyard were extremely expensive. One cafe alone cost 4 Euros or about $5.60. A complete breakfast was about $32.00 Yet, The hotel is next to a cafetaria which served decent "quick" meals at affordable prices, and especially good cups of cafe for about $1.60. At meal time, however, numerous tour bus stopped there, so it tended to be very crowded. It is extremely well situated, close to the metro, and autobus lines. The Louvre is within walking distance and so is the place de la Concorde, and the Champs Elysees, La Madeleine, and so forth. I am glad Hotel.com found this hotel for us as there was a "special" rate when we accepted their offer. Under the same condition, we would return to this hotel.
