Trip Type: Romance Review 5 of 148Average Hotel For Your Money
The day we arrived and checked in,they wanted to put us in the outside cottages. We had payed for the garden view in the main building but the lady wasn't helpful fixing the problem.Eventually they came around and put us where we should've been in the first place. The beach was nice outside the hotel but the eating at the resort was abit pricey. I wouldn't come back to this hotel if we stayed in kanapali again.

Trip Type: Family Review 10 of 148More than I was expecting for the price I payed
Before to book my stay at this hotel I was reading lots of comments, some were good, other scared me. Finally I decided to run the risk and I'm so happy I did it. We were at the 11th floor, the view was awesome, the room was small but confortable, nice decor and the bed was cozy. All the staff was frendly and so helpful. The breakfasts buffete has variety for a fair price. The beach is pretty and a perfect spot to watch the sunset.

Trip Type: Family Review 11 of 148A little pricey for what it is
We are a Local family from Kailua, Oahu, and I traveled with my husband and 2 year old son. We got a deluxe partial ocean view on the 9th floor. Nice views of beach and water. Decor is nice (looked recently remodeled). We had a king bed that fit all of us. Large flat screen directly in front of bed, my husband liked that. Room & balcony was safe for 2 year old. There is no bathtub (my son hates the shower). The next door guest came back at 5 am and proceeded to talk on her balcony. We realized then that the room is not soundproofed to outside noises. We heard them passing in the hallway, slamming her door, and the woman and her friends talking. At 6 am my husband asked her nicely to go back into her room to have her conversation, after she sassed him and told him no, he finally yelled/swore at her to get back into her room. We got up soonafter, had a nice breakfast at the local coffee/ice cream shop and other items from general store located downstairs. Prices were reasonable and found elsewhere in local Hawaii stores, not outrageous hotel prices. Saw only one other family with a toddler at the hotel, not any other kids/families. I've seen more families at 5 star hotels. But the staff was friendly and nice. The Royal Lahaina (located in Kaanapali btw) is a 3.5 star, pricey for the discounted rate I paid for what it is. It's ok, but I'd pay a little more and go somewhere nicer next time.

Trip Type: Romance Review 13 of 148Great room, great location, nice staff, dated grounds
Generally, we were very happy with our stay at the Royal Lahaina. The rooms (the renovated ones) are nice, the staff were friendly and very interested in helping keep us happy, and the location was very convenient; conversely, the exterior / grounds of the hotel are dated and not very lush. We stayed in the Tower with the renovated rooms and were very pleased with it - we liked the decor, and we used our refrigerator to stock up on food/drinks and then didn't have to eat all our meals out. The location was great - very close to Whaler's Village, a short drive to Front Street in Lahaina or Kapalua Village for some good restaurants, and a very short walk to great snorkeling (if a bit crowded) at Black Rock. On the downside, the hotel depends on a large number of outsourced vendors - the sundries store takes about five minutes to charge something to your room because they're not really part of the hotel's system, and you can't get a receipt for your Wi-Fi charges ($10 a day) from the hotel because it's through a partner. They need to work on providing more seamless service and not make it so obvious that things are separate. Also, while the rooms in the Tower have been nicely updated, the exterior is really very basic with three smallish, no frills pools and the grounds are not at all lush or tropical. Their poolside cabana also didn't have a blender when we were there so no pina coladas, which was shocking to us on a tropical island, but we were told that they're getting a more complete set there soon and should have that addressed. They DO have a fantastic lawn strewn near one of the pools with lawn chairs that people can sit on while enjoying a beautiful view of the ocean, and the beach in front is truly lovely, but they need to jazz up the exterior and make it all feel a little freshened up to bring it ot the level of the renovated rooms. All of that said, we really paid a fantastic price for our room and feel we got a tremendous value for the nice room and gr

Positives: Older but well maintained hotel; room decor was nice; the partial ocean-view was very nice; within walking distance to eateries; rooms well sound proofed; helpful staff who made one feel welcome. Negatives: Our room was a bit snug; parking was limited especially during a luau; access to the internet cost $9.95 per day and could not find a hotspot in the hotel.
