Reval Hotel Latvija

In a way I may say I was satisfied with my stay at Reval Hotel Latvia during the 4 nights that I stayed there last week. It's clean and comfortable and the buffet breakfast which was included in the rate I paid was good. Location is also nice, the hotel being a walking distance to most places of interest in Riga City. I was just a bit frustrated because the pool was not for free. Guests who may want to use the pool must pay to be able to have access to the spa and the fitness center facilities which include the pool. This should be explained at the time of booking as it's not the usual thing. If a hotel has a pool, it usually is free of charge for guests to use. I am a wheelchair person and I expected to have an accessible room especially that Reval Hotel Latvia is supposed to be a 4-star hotel. Unfortunately, I was told the hotel has no handicap room so I had to take a regular room. The bathroom is totally inaccessible for people like me. When I asked for a shower chair, staff at the front desk said they have none. I asked for a plastic chair and they sent to my room a beer case instead. They said this is the only thing they can give me as they don't have a plastic chair available. For four days, I had to be assisted by my husband to sit on a plastic beer case that was topped with a towel, to enable me to take a shower. Each time, I had to take extra care lest I slip on the floor and break my back. This was the biggest disappointment I had with Reval Hotel Latvia. I may not consider staying in that hotel again nor would I recommend it to other travelers with disabilities like myself.

This is a fine hotel in a good location. Service was very good. The sumptious breakfast was a great way to start the day. Our room was on the sunny side of the hotel and the air conditioning either did not work or could not keep up with the heat. Still, it was not unbearable.
