I read reviews saying that this hotel was "pet friendly"--maybe too friendly. My room was absolutely disgusting. It smelled strongly of pet urine and cigarette smoke (though I was asked to sign a statement saying that I would be charged if I smoked in the room). I used Febreze, Lysol, and even burned a travel candle that normally covers any odors. None worked! If it had not been so late at night when I checked in, I would definitely have walked out on this reservation, despite the fact that I had pre-paid.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 4 of 56Great Location for exploring Missoula
Great location to walk downtown and the University. We had dogs on our stay and the ability to back up to your room and have access to them was great. Easy access to the walking trails along the river made our stay that much better. The free breakfast was more than I was expecting as well. I would for sure stay there again.

My room was fine--I don't often stay in motels, so first I thought they didn't provide shampoo, soap, etc. It turned out that they had just forgotten those items. When I turned back the sheets, they were pretty wrinkled, giving me the impression that the bed had already been slept in. I talked to the night manager, who assured me that everything was fine. It might have been, but I still wasn't positive--maybe I'm neurotic--but I sort of slept on top of the bed instead of between the sheets. It was probably fine, but I wasn't convinced. Otherwise the room was fine, the AC worked very well, and I had a good stay.

There was no mini-fridge or microwave in the room. I expected that there would be. The breakfast was also a disappointment.

If you travel with a pet, Red Lion is the place! They are the only hotel chain we used in a recent 3-week trip that doesn't view pets as another way to make money. The desk clerk was extremely helpful and the room was large and spotless.
