    The Red Lion Hotel on 5th Ave. is a beautiful, and affordably priced place to stay in Seattle. Unfortunatley, the morning of our departure, I had the maid service knocking on my door at 8:00 am asking when I would be checking out. After repyling to the maid that check out is 12:00, she made a loud groan and said, "Oh my...thats not good." As I tried to return to sleep, I heard the maid knocking on all the doors down the hall asking the same questions to other guests....as well as hearing several slamming doors of unhappy awakened guests.

Location. The Red Lion Hotel on Fifth Avenue is located in downtown Seattle, Wash. The shops at City Center stand across the street from the hotel. The famed Fifth Avenue Theatre is located one block away.

Hotel Features. The spacious lobby features a fireplace and black-and-white photographs of Seattle. The Terrace Garden Restaurant features an expansive outdoor terrace with decorative arbors and views of Puget Sound. The restaurant serves American-style fare and hosts happy hours. A 24-hour business center offers fax, print and photocopy services for a fee. A total of 14,000 square feet of function space accommodates events and includes a ballroom. Complimentary wireless Internet access is available throughout the hotel. The 24-hour, complimentary fitness room provides street views and houses cardiovascular and weight-training equipment, free weights and medicine balls. Pets are welcomed with homemade doggy treats compliments of the concierge.

Guestrooms. This 17-story property offers 297 guestrooms furnished with armchairs and ottomans, and armoires and dressers. Beds feature pillowtop mattresses, triple sheeting and plaid bedspreads. Rooms boast granite-topped wet bars and refrigerators. The rooms are equipped with 37-inch flat-screen televisions with satellite channels, iHome docking stations, complimentary wireless Internet access, and coffeemakers. Bathrooms feature granite-topped vanities, sconce lighting and curved shower rods. Bathrobes and Bath & Body Works toiletries are provided.

Expert Tip. As of 2008, this hotel offers the largest outdoor patio in Seattle with views of Elliott Bay and Puget Sound.
