Ramada Katunayaka Colombo In

Our second stay at this hotel. Again, a comfortable sleep and excellent service from the staff. A few comments for would-be guests: (1) The hotel isn't actually in Katunayaka per se; it's in Seeduwa, which is a few km south toward Colombo. It's more or less the middle of nowhere, but a short bus/taxi ride to the airport. (2) Booking taxis through the hotel is very expensive compared with normal rates. (3) The so-called "broadband" internet service available in the rooms is both extremely slow and extremely overpriced. Other than these three complaints, it's a perfectly fine hotel for those with early or late flights at the international airport. Again, the staff were very warm, helpful, and friendly.

The quality of the rooms and service at this hotel are very good. In fact, the service was exceptional. The staff were very warm, helpful, and professional. The one issue we had was the location. It's reasonably close to the international airport (about 10 minutes by taxi), so if you're arriving late or departing early, this hotel could be a good choice. But be aware that it's quite far from Colombo (an hour by bus) and not particularly close to Negombo, and there's really nothing much to see or do in the surrounding area, so you'll probably be sitting around at the hotel during your stay. If all you need is a hotel close to the international airport, this would be a fine choice.
