Nice hotel

The resort was very nice but not plush by any means. The rooms were very basic and could use some upgrades but were entirely functional. The best beach had the most wonderful sunset but the snack bar (that served alcohol) closed in the late afternoon so we could not enjoy the setting with a meal or food. While on the subject of food there were only two options, basic snack food or buffet. The buffet was fine but not always what one wants - especially in the evening. The only bar did not have table service. There is no service around the pool. The resort has the required amenities but did not quite step up to the plate for the service.

Great environment! Wonderful staff!

Punta Leona was great from the very beginning. Staff was extremely helpful at check-in and throughout the stay. The spa staff (Cindy) provided outstanding service. I enjoyed the close proximity of iguana, monkeys, butterflies and macaw. The beaches were great!

Horrible!

This hotel is completely run down! We had to change rooms three times because the first two rooms we were in smelled so badly of mold that they were uninhabitable. We didn't have hot water or electricity for a good portion of our stay. When we complained to the front desk manager for the millionth time, he told us he didn't care. I told him that I was going to post that he said that on hotels.com, and he said good. Plus, everything but the totally disgusting, completely overpriced ($17 per person for lunch or dinner - in Costa Rica!) buffet is closed during the week. Don't stay here!
