Protea Hotel Umhlanga

The Protea Hotel Umhlanga is a modern nine-floor hotel located in the heart of the Umhlanga Rocks, north of Durban and 500 metres from a protected beach on the Sugar Coast. There are 120 guestrooms all of which enjoy a sea view and benefit from air-conditioning. Guestrooms are cheerfully decorated and providing modern furnishings, are open plan, and feature separate sitting areas with sofabeds and kitchenettes with cookware, microwaves and fridges. Guests wanting to shop should head to the Gateway Complex, five kilometres from the hotel, reputed to be the largest shopping centre in the southern hemisphere, complete with cinemas, live theatre and skate park amongst other entertainments. The hotel is approximately 40 kilometres or a 30-minute drive from Durban Airport.
