Trip Type: Romance Review 1 of 145It was ok
Nothing fabulous about it, needs a little updating, and parking was a little scary, dark, windy, and very tight spots

Trip Type: Business Review 2 of 145Great value,
The hotel was a long walk from the convention center but when I arrived I was pleasantly surprised. The hotel is in a nice quaint area with views of the bay and downtown. Plus my room had a balcony and there is a patio on the roof to enjoy the view from as well. The room had free wifi, a comfortable bed and a nice set of ammenities including a fridge, microwave, bar and cd alarm clock. Plus a fitness center free shuttle and nice restaurant with a great view as well. For me, the hotel was a great value and I would happily stay there again.

One block from Litty Italy, great location!

Trip Type: Family Review 5 of 145Very nice hotel
The beds are very comfortable, the bathroom was huge compared to most, and was very nicely decorated. Little Italy is within walking distance and the hotel has a shuttle to Seaport Village and Sea World.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 6 of 145Mixed Experience
While the hotel itself was fine and the accommodations good for the price I got, my experience quickly turned into a logistical nightmare. I had never visited SD Downtown. I didn't feel like paying the hotel's $20 for valet parking. I parked on the street only to find myself towed away due to the Little Italy Festival. More than 30 people got towed that weekend. The hotel people could have gone out of their way to point the event, warn of the towing frenzy, instead because I did not pay their ripoff fee, they led me to believe I was ok parking outside. The day I got towed I needed to be in church for my only niece's baptismal. My family and I will not return to this hotel. The structure was fine, the disposition was unkind.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 7 of 145Welcome to Porto Dysfunctional!
My experience with Clarion properties has not been great in the past, and if I knew that this was one, I would have passed. They should require Clarion executives to stay in this property as an example of NOT to do. What's wrong: Light bulbs burned out and/or lamps nonoperational, tube TV in pull out cabinet that you cannot see from dining area or desk; drapes need repair; carpet needs cleaning or replacing; microwave light has gone out and carousel doesn't work anymore; refrigerator not cold enough; microwave and refrigerator strategically placed on counter by sink so you can't use the the counter space (on top of a cabinet that could be used for a larger, cold refrigeration unit); faucet to sink needs to be secured (moves when you turn water on and off); heater/ac unit is behind drapes so drapes get very toasty before you feel any heat; ironing board was broke. Other than that, everything else (what's left?) was okay.... I should have spent $50 more and stayed at a better, established property. My mistake!

The hotel was great in all aspects with the exception of the fire alarm going on at 4 o'clock in the morning.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 13 of 145Second Stay!
This was our second stay at the Porto Vista. We did not spend as much time at the hotel this time, but the stay was great. The staff at this Hotel goes beyond helping. Love it is located so close to Little Italy. Downside - the beds were a little hard and we stayed in the upgraded room this time. Would not normally stay in a hotel with outside hallways due to noise, but we stayed during the week each time with no noise problem. This time the fire alarm went off at 4:30 am and I was not happy.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 14 of 145A nightmare experience
I arrived after a late flight and fell asleep at around 1:30 am. At 4:30 am, the fire alarm went off, waking the entire hotel and forcing everyone out onto the street in their pajamas. After about ten minutes, the desk agent advised us that it was a false alarm and we could go back to our rooms. Upon return to my room, I discovered that the walls of the hotel are incredibly thin, as my nextdoor neighbors demonstrated. For an hour. The bathroom smelled overwhelmingly of paint, which made my stay uncomfortable.
