Trip Type: Romance Review 1 of 28Outstanding Hotel
We were very happy with the accomodations. I thought I had reserved a room with a king sized bed, but it had 2 queens instead. The hotel stated they would upgrade at no additional cost and had an employee come to the room immediately to show us to the other room. We opted to stay in the initial room afterall, but they were quick to meet our needs. Also, I treated my boyfriend to a massage for his birthday. He treats himself regularly and stated that the spa gave him the best massage he has ever had. He stated that they had top notch ammenities in the spa catering to both men and women.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 2 of 28overpriced
This hotel has been around a long time. Reasonably well=maintained but not up to today's standard for the price charged. Almost no beach and a tiny pool area. It seems to attract a crude, unruly clientele but maybe that is typical of Key West. The immediate neighborhood is rather tawdry. The hotel staff recommended a restaurant for dinner that was supposed to be among the very best in KW. It was noisy and expensive, and the food was mediocre at best. Frankly the problem is probably Key West, not a very interesting place, full of schlock and kitsch masquerading as "art" and "culture." The real artists left long ago.

Trip Type: Romance Review 3 of 28Very Nice Hotel
We had a room with a waterview (great for watching the sun set), it was top notch. Great location to the docks and Duval St. Not a great pool and the "beach" area was rather small, but overall the hotel was GREAT.

Trip Type: Family Review 4 of 28only one complaint
The hotel room was very nice and we loved the location. My only complaint is that there was no complimentary breakfast - I can't remember the last time I stayed in a hotel that did not offer a complimentary continental breakfast.

Conveniently located at the base of Duval St, this hotel is right on the wharf walking path. The hotel is luxurious and the staff most accomodating.

Trip Type: Romance Review 6 of 28Can't beat the location
Right in the middle of it all! The hotel sits at the end of the main street (Duval St.). No need to ever take a taxi, everything is in easy walking distance. We got put in their "spa" building, which isn't in the main cluster of buildings around the pool and beach area, but it was only a 1 minute walk. The room was huge, great bathroom - very "spa-like" (bamboo floors, neutral paint, nice decor, etc...) The pool was nice with the outdoor bar/restaurant only 30 feet away. The private beach right next to it was a good touch - about 50' x 50' of total beach...which was nice because it turns out that the only real public beaches were over a mile away. But let's be honest, if you're looking for the classic white sand and relaxing beach vacation, Key West is not your spot - the sand on the beaches isn't that great because the high percentage of coral in the sand. You shoud be going to Key West for the restaurants, bars, shopping, and water activities (snorkeling, diving, jet skis, fishing)

Trip Type: Romance Review 7 of 28Great Hotel
I did not know what to expect from this hotel. I was looking at Southern Most first but decided to stay at the other end of Duval at the last minute. What a great location and great hotel. The room was clean and new. I am not sure how old the hotel is but it even had a new construction smell. (Not a bad thing, especially compared to the familiar mildew smell of old hotels in Florida). The grounds and decoration were beautiful. With in a half an hour of checking in, the front desk was able to book us on a sunset snorkel cruise that was right down the street and even billed it to my room. They really made it very simple. There are several places to eat as well as Mallory square and Duval pretty much right there within a few steps. Great place to stay. I will definately be back.

Trip Type: Family Review 9 of 28Over priced. Lots of little problems.
The Pier House is right at the end of Duval so you are very close to it all. Very Small beach and pool and a topless section not separated from the rest of the area. A 10 minute drive you will find Smathers Beach,a much nicer beach and miles to run. The room was a good size but the air conditioning was literally 6 inches away from the head of the bed and could not be adjusted. We kept a towel over it most of the time. There were some rooms without this lay out but there was not elevator available there. We had sugar ants in the room that was taken care of but left a bug spray smell for the night. The phone was broken. The restaurant ran out Mahi Mahi and Snapper one night that we ate there. Also ran out of Bagels the next morning. Oh and the bathroom doors are sliding doors with no locks. Not great if you are with just friends. Very tropical setting nice older hotel but very very over priced

Trip Type: Romance Review 11 of 28Location was the best in Key West
We had a wonderful vacation! The beachfront cafe' was the best. It was so beautiful and the customer service friendly & exceptional. As for the location; there is nothing more convenient than being at 1 Duval street when all the fun, shopping and activity is just steps away. Had only planned a 3 night stay, but booked a 4th after our 2nd evening. Deserves a 5 star rating!

Trip Type: Family Review 12 of 28We liked it
We arrived around 11AM and went in to ask if we could park in their lot until check-in. We were very pleasantly greeted and told our room was ready. The room appeared to have been remodeled recently with new furniture and bathroom fixtures. All very clean and great toiletries. The location is excellent for sunset at Mallory Square or walkling along Duval St-lots of stores and restaurants. The grounds were Beautiful. The pool was clean and warm. The hot tub was clean and hot. We would definitetly go back.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 14 of 28Nice place, but poor customer service
The hotel is old, but has new upgrades. The location is great, but the management needs to understand customer service.
