Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 2 of 38great location
When we arrived at the Philippos in the early morning, were were told that they had become overbooked because of some guests not leaving on schedule, so they were upgrading us to their sister hotel which was right around the corner. This hotel was really perfect in every way. There was a great view of the acropolis and the new acropolis museum from the comfortable rooftop lounge, and each of these were within about a 5 minute walk of the hotel. We only had one day to spend in Athens so the central location was ideal, and the high quality of the hotel and friendliness of the staff made for an experience that couldn't have been better.

Trip Type: Romance Review 3 of 38Excellent hotel and staff!
The hotel location is all about the Acropolis and the surrounding monuments in Athens. The hotel situated at the base of the Acropolis and one block away from the New Athens Museum makes it the perfect stay for the money.

Trip Type: Family Review 4 of 38Superb location
This hotel is located in a great area, very close to the beautiful new Acropolis Museum and the Acropolis itself. The Plaka section is also very close and great for souvenirs and restaurants. And the Metro is close by and very easy to use. The neighborhood itself was safe and very residential. The breakfast is fairly standard but its filling and gets one to a good start in the morning.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 5 of 38Great hotel
This hotel worked out great for me on my recent trip to Athens. It is only a few blocks from the Ackropoli Metro Station, and it is only two blocks from the new Acropolis Museum and three blocks from the Acropolis itself. It is in easy walking distance to a whole series of cafe's and restaurants (just keep walking around the Acropolis, past the entrance, and down the hill a bit). The staff was very nice and helpful, and the room was pleasant (although very small). The buffet breakfast was included in the room rate I paid, so I ate there for breakfast. I would definitely recommend this hotel - the location can't be beat.

Trip Type: Family Review 7 of 38Great location and value
This hotel is an an excellent central location within 5 minutes walk of the Acropolis, Plaka, metro station, National Gardens and more. Clean and recently updated...only negative were awfully hard beds.

Trip Type: Business Review 8 of 38Great value & location
Great value & location at the Philippos Hotel. Some o the rooms are a little small, but for this price, with a good breakfast and friendly service, and just yards from the new Acropolis Museum, this is hard to beat in Athens.

Trip Type: Romance Review 9 of 38We'd stay here again in a heartbeat!!
Ask for a higher floor - that gives you better chances of having a view of the Acropolis. If you can't see the Acropolis you can walk up the street to see it or walk up the street to the sister hotel and lounge on the comfy rooftop for a spectacular view of it. Super conveniently located - 5 minutes to the Acropolis circle (that winds over to Plaka, etc) and about the same distance to the Metro with some great food and/or jewelry shops along the way. The free breakfast every morning was delicious. The staff was friendly and accomodating (there was no hot water or coffee maker in the room but they gave me a carafe of hot water from the bar whenever I asked for it). We would stay here again in a heartbeat!!

Trip Type: Family Review 10 of 38Great, quiet location
Nicely located haven at the end of the day from the summer heat and the busy city crowds. Very comfortable and quiet. Right next to the Acropolis and the new museum in a mostly residential neighborhood. Room decoration seemed a little unfinished, but extremely comfortable.

Trip Type: Romance Review 12 of 38Close to Acropolis and Plaka
The hotel is 2 minutes walk to the Acropolis and the New Acropolis Museum. It is about a 5-10 minute walk to the Plaka, which is easy to find decently priced meals and shopping. It is about the same distance to the Acropoli Metro stop but the walk is up hill and pretty difficult if you have heavy bags. From the Airport it is about 35 minutes on the X95 bus to the Syntagma Metro where you can transfer from the bus stop to the metro. Acropoli is just one stop south. Costs about 5 euro total. Don't let that discourage you from staying here though. It is well worth the money considering the price of hotels in the area. It comes with a decent European breakfast included: sliced meats and cheeses, breads, fruit, little hotdogs, and cereal. Internet was 3 euro per hour at their business center, or 6 euro for 24 hours with your own laptop. Room was small, even for Europe. There are large rooms in the hotel because my wife and I snuck a peak at one on the first floor. We stayed in a double with only two bags and were pretty crowded. Bed was decent. Shower leaked all over the place but had hot water with good pressure.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 14 of 38Great location
This hotel was in a great location - within walking distance to the New Museum (not open as of 6/09) the Acropolis and all the sites. There was a lot of shopping and resturants nearby. I did not feel afraid to go out at night by myself. The front desk staff was extremely friendly and accommodated me even though I arrived 4 hours earlier than check-in. The rooms were very clean, but also very small. However, you don't really expect to spend alot of time in the room. My only recommendation is to make sure you have a map of where the hotel is when you arrive in athens because it was hard for me to find!

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 15 of 38good location, nice people, clean place, but too small room
Overall I am happy with it, but what I paid might have got some more upscaled places. Still, it is a pretty good place, very close to the Acropolis, Olympia Zeus etc. The room and bed are very clean; air condition is in good order; breakfast is decent; the manager on duty is quite helpful. The only complaint is that the room is very small, essentially about 1 meter from the bed (a pretty large bed though) to the three sides of the walls or furnitures. I would only recommend it if you don't mind too much the size of the room.
