Pelican Grand is Grand

I chose this hotel from a list with a picture. It turned out that the picture was accurate, but the hotel was much more than that. The location is right on the beach at a fantastic location. The hotel also has a comfortable pool and a little lazy river. There is a cozy restaurant and we had breakfast for two included in the price. There is also an ice cream parlor and a bar & grill. We stayed for only one night after a one week cruise, but would have stayed much longer had I known what a terrific hotel this was. I think all rooms are suite size with ocean balcony. I will certainly return here.

Greaat Hotel

This was a great choice. Locaation was terrific. We had adults and little kids, and the adults were veery comfortable and the kids loved the"river" pool. I will go there again, and take some of the other grandchildren. Summer rates made it possible.

Outstanding Hotel

Our hotel stay was great! If you have kids they whe will love the lazy river pool. The staff was friendly and available. I would highly recommend this hotel to others.

Exceptional Staff and location

This was my second stay at this hotel and we continue to love the location and staff. Everyone is friendly, couteous and willing to cheerfully accomodate reasonable requests. The location is a bit inconvenient for Convention Center events like the Taekwon Do Nationals, but the beach, pool and amenities are worth the extra travel time. There is no self-parking (all valet) and a per day garage charge so it is actually cheaper to take taxis rather than rent a car. I did notice some deferred maintenance this time that I didn't see 2 years ago, but maintenace staff were working daily on these items. All in all, we will happily return next year.

Everything about this hotel was Fabulous! Beautiful views, rooms, location, the Food, I cannot recommend this hotel enough!

Great Place

The beach was beautiful. Not only a pool but a lazy river..was great. The food at the restaurant was great. I can't wait to go back.

Outstanding Room with a Beautiful View

Great Room right on the beach...nice area...great bar and restaurant....loved it would stay again.

Romantic Hotel

This hotel was absolutely beautiful! Pictures do not do it justice. The beaches were fantastic! Lots of beautiful sand and smooth water to play in! There is a large covered porch facing the beach with rows of rocking chairs. Long story short, I could have rocked myself to sleep out there! I can't say enough about the staff from the front desk clerk to the waitress in the hotel dining room. They were very friendly and accomodating. Without even asking, they upgraded us to a room with a private balcony overlooking the ocean. We were greeted with a smile everywhere we went! Again, can't say enough about it. I'm very particular about service and I would recommend the hotel to anyone!

Outstanding Hotel

This was my 2nd time staying at The Pelican Grand and trust me it won't be my last !!! The staff is always pleasant and helpful. I will be back next year.

Great hotel but..

It was a great Hotel, great Service, clean rooms, nice people, just keep in mind the following: 1. If you are a Smoker and they catch you ANYWHERE on the premises or the Balcony smoking the fine is $250 2. The Restaurant food is horrible! 3. The ATM charges $6 Fee 4. there is not store or gas station anywhere in walking distance! But besides that, the restaurant and service is awesome, amazing beach!

Don't waste your time on the bad reviews! See for yourself!!

I admit when I read reviews I focus too much on the bad ones.However, I have to say that the people who posted negative comments on this hotel must have been having a bad day. The number one negative complaint,I read, of the hotel is that the food is expensive. Duh, it's a hotel. I have never seen a luxury hotel, especially one on the beach, that didn't have expensive food. The other one I read on this particular hotel was the service. I have to say that the service in this hotel was above and beyond fantastic. From the moment we stepped out of our car we were greeted and treated great. Their were 6 of us, 2 adults and 4 kids, and everywhere we went we were acknowledged and asked how we were doing. From the people serving drinks around the pool and beach to the men and women cleaning the floors in the hotel. Everyone was smiling and making sure we were being taken care of. To make it easier I am making a list of Pros and Cons. Pros: Huge, clean rooms! Ton's of storage for your stuff. After a day at the beach with four kids there was sand everywhere in the room. When we came back to our room after it had been cleaned you would have never known. Very friendly staff! Location,location, location. Steps from a beautifully, cleaned beach where the water is transparent and free of rocks and seaweed. There are lounge chairs and umbrellas for everyone and a nice lifeguard on the beach who is very attentive to your needs. You can dine outside on the porch along the beach. The pool area is super clean and the Lazy River was a huge hit with the kids. The best part, in my opinion, was laying in a raft in the ocean and having a cocktail waitress bringing drinks to the waters edge for me. Does it get any better??? Cons: You have to valet or feed meters all day. You have to drive to go anywhere. No restaurants really in walking distance.

the lobbie and resturant were great. But the rooms were a little strange. Out dated tile in the entrance, stained carpet. Furniture that needed to be redone. A second tv that had very few channels. They were trying very hard to be five star, they just need to redo the floors
