Trip Type: With Friends Review 1 of 132Awesome Hotel!
The moment my friends and I stepped onto the property, the staff treated us like VIP. We came in at 10 am, too early for check in, but they tried their hardest to accommodate us. Because of overbooking, they graciously upgraded us to the Presidential Suite, which we were happy to oblige! The area is great, close to everything and to all the great eats! We wandered over to the Hash House A Go Go, which the Park Manor Staff highly recommended. They were patient and thorough with explaining how to get to any places you want to go. We came back, only to find that the room was still being cleaned. Excited and anxious to see the room we familiarized ourselves with the property. Great hospitality! They offered us a free of drinks at the hotel's bar. GREAT SERVICE! The service is definetly 5 stars! The hotel is really nice and quaint, a bit on the other side, but really welcoming. The only feedback I have is.... pool, please????

Trip Type: Family Review 2 of 132Quirky, fun hotel
The hotel has a lot of character. The building is from the Twenties. Our room was large with a full kitchen and sitting area. The bed was comfortable and very modern, but the rest of the room was furnished like a Forties apartment, which we loved. This is such a fun, quirky hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very good. We ate breakfast on the roof of the hotel overlooking San Diego Bay. It was wonderful. The location is right across from Balboa Park. It is close enough to drive to the San Diego sights. But be sure to have a GPS. San Diego isn't the easiest area to get around.Parking was never a problem. There's free parking and we always found a spot. The only downside is that our bathroom was small and I had to store all our hair and toiletry products outside on one of the cabinets in the closet area.

Trip Type: Family Review 3 of 132Very Friendly Service, Awesome Location
The hotel is a historical building and has many of its original "fixtures." It looks like it was probably an apartment building in the 30's. Each room is different. My in-laws stayed in another room. My room had a refrigerator built into the wall, a Kelvinator. It wasn't working, they had a modern refridgerator in the room as well, but it added charm and of course historical value. The staff was extremely friendly, providing a map of the surrounding area. We walked to the University town and there was a free tram to Balboa Park which is where the Zoo is located. They also provide a free continental breakfast on their rooftop which has beautiful views of the city. If you are looking for 5-star hotel ammenities, then you may not want this hotel. However, I enjoyed it very much.

Trip Type: Business Review 4 of 132Great Classic Hotel
My stay at the Park Manor Suites far and away exceeded my expectations. The hotel was located directly across the street from Balboa Park and only minutes away from all the major attractions. Unfortunately my room was not ready the day I arrived so I was put in another room. The Hotel staff ended up putting me in another gorgeous and much larger room to make up for the inconvenience and even relocated all my luggage into the new room while I was out having breakfast. The staff was always available for everything I needed and made constant suggestions on places to eat and things to do. While the room I was in didn't have A/C it was not at all necessary. All the windows open to let in wonderfully cool breezes and each room had a ceiling fan. There were T.V.'s in all the rooms and a full size working refrigerator (this came in handy every day as I was there for an entire week at a company training session). The Piano bar downstairs is wonderful with a great piano player, wonderful patrons and the bartenders make some of the best drinks in town. The Park Manor Suites is my new favorite hotel. Cons- Hallways are dark and rooms do show some wear and tear (which for me just adds to the overall charm of the place). The parking is limited so on weekends I highly recommend parking your car and either walking or getting a taxi to your favorite attractions. Taxi's are inexpensive and will make up for the cost when you don't have to park on 6th street. The area is very quiet and the park is just feet away and is an excellent place to see and do.

Trip Type: Romance Review 6 of 132Great hotel, Great location
Best location in San Diego. Right in hillcrest, next to Balboa park, where the zoo and museums are. Did I mention the free trolly that goes through the park is free and is only a block away. A great restaurant downstairs with nightly entertainment, Spacious rooms, gaslamp quarter is not far as well as many eateries. Also there is a beautiful lunchonette on the penthouse level serving continental breakfast in the AM as well. The hotel caters to all types of people and have discounted tickets to the park venues.

Trip Type: Romance Review 7 of 132Outstanding, Older Hotel
My husband and I had a wonderful stay here for a long weekend. The room was spacious with an amazing city view. Everything was very clean and well maintained. All the windows completely opened, so we never once noticed the lack of AC. We enjoyed having a dining table and kitchen for lunches. The continental breakfast is on the 7th floor with roof access. They kept it constantly filled up, so if you don't get up at with the sun you won't miss the good stuff like other places. Had fresh fruit, yogurt, cereals, breads, etc. They have on site free parking (which is unusual for San Diego), but the lot is small. They warned us on check-in which nights they didn't recommend us moving our car because they doubted we'd have a spot when we returned. Parking not a problem during the day. This did not inconvenience us though since we walked when possible. The surrounding neighborhood and park was definitely safe for walking at night. We actually walked down 5th street all the way to the Gaslamp District. We enjoyed the location and the room so much we can't wait to go back!

This is my favorite place to stay in San Diego. The location is great if you are interested in Balboa Park and the Hillcrest area. Everyone who works their is friendly and helpful, and the restaurant serves delicious food.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 10 of 132The Park Manor : Funky and Fun
We were visiting family and wanted a suites hotel, in case the kids wanted to stay late and visit with each other. This was precisely the case (and, as the mom, I was so happy with this!). This hotel was chosen for the suites, the free parking, and because it was close to our children's neighborhood. Our room included a balcony, which we all loved, and we were able to snack and eat in because of the kitchen facilities. The boys went running in Balboa Park, which was perfectly located, directly across the street. The neighborhood is charming, restaurants plentiful, and shopping was delightful. We are planning on returning to The Park Manor when we return to San Diego.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 11 of 132Good hotel
Good hotel. The room was large, it had a seperate kitchen area and a sitting area. Bathroom was on the small side., but had everything you would need. No AC in the room, but a ceiling fan and we had 7 windows in the room.. so not an issue at all. Road sound was an small issue. It is on the corner of two streets and with the windows open there was some notable street noise, it did quiet down later,

Trip Type: Business Review 13 of 132Great location, lots of room
This hotel is in a great location next to Balboa Park. I was somewhat surprised in the very outdated furnishings and kitchenette, but the room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable.

Trip Type: Family Review 14 of 132Great Stay
Other than a slow draining tub on the weekend, during the week less guest I'm guessing, our room was great! You have to like the "old world" flair though. When entering our floor from elevator I felt like I was in a hotel I stayed at in London. A major plus, most hotels I've stayed in I've kept my shoes/socks/slippers on feet due to not so clean carpets, not this one, felt clean and look clean with bare feet. A true find, will stay again if in the area and can get the discounted rate.

Quaint would be the word to describe this older hotel. Rooms are nicely sized but most furniture is older. Beds are comfortable. TV is not flat screen or HDTV. Internet access is great. Older fixtures in bathroom need caulking. Parking is free and location is excellent.
