    While this may have been a glorious hotel in its hayday as a club med facility, don't let the pictures be your guide. A long time of little or no maintenance has taken its toll. The rooms at today's standards are spartanic. However, it is the only hotel we found that is pet friendly in this area. The staff is doing its best with what they have to work with. The beaches and the scenery adjoining are nothing short of spectacular.

    We chose this hotel because it was in the middle of the price range for all San Carlos Hotels. We should have been concerned when there were no photos of the rooms online prior to booking reservation. The grounds are beutiful, lush, with lagoon and beaches, we were excited. We got to our first room and were greeted by a puddle of water in front of it, that never evaporated. It was musty and mildew-y and we had diffibulty breathing (as we have asthma). There was no phone, no alram clock and no heat. Staff were very willing to move us to another room on the second floor, that was in the same condition. We were glad we only reserved one night's stay, as the amoutn charged was too muco for the quality of this room. We were more than ready to check-out at daylight. The hotel is under construction and things may improve later, but not right now (11/08). FYI-we had a "lagoon-facing" room. The grounds are very nice and have a lot of acitivities, but be aware that they routinely have multiple weddings on the weekends and they may go late into the night.

The Paradiso Resort & Beach Club is directly on the beach in Sonoran Bay, where the desert mountains meet the dark-blue sea of Cortez, and five miles from San Carlos. This resort is 90 miles from the Hermosillo Airport and 15 miles from the Guaymas Airport. The historical center of the city of Guaymas is 20 miles away. On site, there is kayaking, horseback riding, whale-watching, scuba diving, hobie-cat sailing, snorkeling, and kite and wind-surfing.

The Paradiso Resort is comprised of approximately 62 acres situated on a natural lagoon with four miles of beautiful soft-sand beaches. Along the horizon guests will have a view of the Tetakawi Hill and Bacochibampo Mountains. The property itself is Mexican-adobe in style, offering rustic Mexican charm with resort-style services and quality.

The resort's Laguna Azul restaurant and bar has a Mexican-style patio-like setting with a Mexican/international menu, and views overlooking the pool and lagoon in the background. The principal restaurant is buffet-style, open during the high season. The Hang Out bar on the beach offers snack foods, drinks and music. Guests of the resort will have access to a large pool, one mile of private beach, spa services, sauna and solarium, complimentary snorkeling and kayaking, and tennis, basketball, soccer and beach volleyball courts. For corporate events, there is a convention center, auditorium/theater, business center and meeting rooms.

The guestrooms at this resort feature a view of either the lagoon or the ocean, and are accented with red-tiled floors and rich wooden furniture. In their rooms, guests will find a 20-inch television with cable, two safes and a desk.
