Trip Type: Special Event Review 16 of 728Perfect location, quiet and safe area,
We found the hotel to be very clean, neat from the lobby to the room. Only two blocks to nearest subway. Quiet @ night

Trip Type: Romance Review 18 of 728Great Hotel
The hotel was above what we expected as our first NY trip. The location was excellent, close to subway, central park, and restaurants. (Chirping Chicken and Pink Berry is 1 block from hotel is excellent) The only negatives would be the tile in the shower was grimy and the elevator was broken often during our stay. Great hotel in a really nice neighborhood!

Trip Type: Rest and Recreation Review 20 of 728Totally excellent
we loved everything about it. The staff was so accomodating and friendly--speaking when you were coming or going and opening the doors for you. It is close to subways but the street its on is more private and I liked that. It was nice coming in at night--they had lighted candles on the outside steps. There is a rooftop sitting area that we really enjoyed and did not have to pay extra for using it. Bathroom is simple but nice. Had places to put your personal items. Beds were comfortable and loved the down comforters. And it was very clean. There are several restaurants in the area but around the corner across Broadway we discovered the Westside Market. Several times we went in there and got really good already prepared food and fruit to take back to the room. Would definately stay there again.

Trip Type: Business Review 21 of 728Alot of tourists
comfortable room; wireless internet service hit or miss - (OK if I wanted to stand by the entrance door) - but, they still had hardwired working if requested. $12.95 a day internet - no business friendly Rooms very nice; bed comfortable; pleasant staff

Trip Type: Special Event Review 22 of 728Great Location
We were pleasantly surprised with the staff's attentiveness. They were willing to make our stay enjoyable. The only issue with linen was immediately remedied. We would stay here again on our next trip. The room was clean and very quiet with the exception of the air conditioner. The bath was newly remodeled but the tile floor allowed the shower water to spread over half of the bathroom. The surrounding neighborhood had wonderful choices for sightseeing and restaurants. A good value for the level of service and choice location.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 23 of 728good for the cost
The hotel is in a great location. The price was right however commensurate with the experience. The elevators are very slow and the stairs are not apparently for public consumption. Staff was nice but after asking for towels twice, we never received them. We needed to ask because everyday we were there, we received varying numbers/combinations of towels. However, the rooms were comfortable despite obviously cursory daily cleaning services. The location and the price would be the reasons to return.

Trip Type: Business Review 24 of 728Service needs improvement
The reception desk leaves much to be desired. No matter what I asked, staff was rude or simply just ignored my questions. They cover for each other very well. It seems that the customer gets in the way, is always wrong, must be endured, and is nothing but a inconvenience. Aside from that everything else about the hotel is great. However, since hotel costs have declined and availability has increased - I will definately consider other hotels in the future.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 25 of 728On The Ave
Have stayed here many times, each time the service and comfort of the hotel have been what I would classify as one of the best for the cost. The location in the Upper West Side is great for family and a quiet stay.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 26 of 728Great Place to Stay in Great Location
Very happy with our experience at On the Ave, especially since we were able to book the hotel at a summer discount. Nice, without having unnecessary amenities that you end up paying for and not using. Would definitely stay here again. Love the location, away from the touristy and busy areas in midtown but with easy subway access to get to them.

Attractive, sizeable room; comfortable bed; attractive bathroom (could have used a towel rack for wet towels); friendly staff; fantastic location: walk to Lincoln Center and Central Park, shop at Fairway, lots of interesting restaurants.
