Ocean Dunes Resort & Villas

Great room for the money.

After reading some of the reviews I wasn't sure what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised. We had friendly and excellent service. We had four rooms and we all stayed in the dog friendly section right on the beach. We didn't have a dog but my sister-in-law did and the rooms were very clean. If we make it back down to Myrtle Beach we will definitely stay at the Ocean Dunes.

OK hotel, but I've seen better

We reserved two rooms for two nights. When we got there, our rooms were on different floors. We asked if our rooms could be next door to each other but we were told the entire hotel was booked and it would be impossible to have rooms next to each other. Although we were repeatedly told the hotel was full, the VACANCY sign remained lit throughout our stay and I was in the lobby when a family came in from off the street to get a room. There was a lot of noise, and our sleep was disrupted both nights. We called maintenance because one half of our room had a power outage, and they did come fix it immediately. The rooms had walls patched and were in need of minor repairs. However, the rooms were clean. The location, which is right on the beach, was great. It is just a couple of miles from Broadway at the Beach and other attractions as well.

Dirty Hotel

It was in a nice residental neighborhood but the hotel was dirty, pools dirty, hallways, elevators, common areas all dirty. Nothing special with the customer service from the office personnel. I wasn't happy with the hotel.

Beware

Do not stay at this hotel! The elevator was out of service the whole time and the room had a pet smell.

September weekend

Overall our visit was very good. Our room had a fantastic view with balcony right on the beach. The room was clean and had a flat screen TV. The microwave did not have a working turntable. The Hotel staff were great, especially the front desk clerk Eddie. The pool area looked very nice and many people enjoyed it. The over all hotel was showing it's age in the halls and public areas. However I would stay there again as it's location is great and it is a "dog friendly" hotel!

Not bad stay

The hotel its self was decent, and we enjoyed are stay. The overall location suck, being away from everything that is beach realted. But we had a great time at water-park and the beach !!!!

Needs Improvement...Alot

hotel needs major updating. dirty floors/walls (peanut hulls stayed in the elevator our entire stay and we watched 4 employees ride). there was a HUGE family reunion (bus loads) going on and it seems the cool thing to do was hang from your balcony and scream to any and everyone all day and night with mngmt. doing nothing about it. we watched one employee arrive to work with his car stereo so loud, people from the neighboring hotel were coming out to their balcony to see where it was coming from. as for the reunion, at least 8-10 ADULTS stayed gathered in the lobby, and we constantly heard loud vulgar language in passing- would not have wanted my kids subject to that. again-mngmt. did nothing about it. the water was shut off unexpectantly at 11 pm and did not come back on until 9 am. numerous calls to the front desk only got us "they workin on it". check in/check out was the only thing that went well. we will not return.

no bang for your buck.

The location was great and so was the view. only the room was terrible. Bathtub and shower was stopped up the whole week I was there. The room was not very clean and smelled of cigarette smoke. The staff was not helpful at all. I called the front desk because there was no ice in the ice machine. I explained that I was recovering from 2 broken ankles and all they did was tell me to go down 2 flights of stairs to the next ice machine. I wont stay there again.

The area was nice and quiet at the time of year we went. My only concern was the mold growing on the shower curtain.

My favorite hotel of all!

We stay at Ocean Dunes resort & Villas every yr. We are always pleased with the room and hotel service. We did try a different hotel last year, just to get closer to the south side and we will never do that again. The hotel was horrible. Ocean Dunes is the best place to stay for the money. The whole resort is great. I have teenagers that I allow to run around in the resort because I feel safe at Ocean Dunes. I have never had a problem with our room being clean. the housekeepers come every morning to clean our room. The pools were always clean. We always eat at the hotel rest. and it is always good. Overall, Ocean Dunes Resort & Villas is my favorite hotels and I will continue to stay there every year as long as it stays the way it is now. I have no complaints whatsoever!!!!!!!!!! As a matter of fact, I will be going back for another week in October. Great place to stay.

Nice Hotel...Housekeeping Needs Improvement

This hotel was very nicely located and overall was nice. The room left alot to be desired. The room really needs a thorough cleaning. We did have an issue with a slow drain in the bath tub that they never fixed. We had to have housekeeping come back after she supposedly cleaned the room once. The room could use some updating. However, for the price we paid and the proximity to the beach was a plus!! If they maintained the inside as well as they did, this hotel would've been really great!
