Trip Type: Romance Review 1 of 16Awesome Summer Retreat!
We had read in the local paper about hiking options in Lake Tahoe and were particularly intrigued by what Northstar has done with the biking and hiking trails in the off season. We decided to check it out and stay on the property vs. off. We had no idea what to expect except that for the price of the studio condo walking distance from the lifts and NS village, we expected an adequate by minimal space. We could not have done better anywhere in Tahoe for the price w/all the amenities. Included with our 2 night stay we received 2 free lift passes for hiking, and rollerskating passes at checkin. All I can say is we were completely blown away by the entire experience. We enjoyed 10 miles of hiking over the 2 day period, and did not need to get into our car until check out. Starbucks, great shopping, amazing food and the gondola to the trails were right off the trail from our condo's door. The ONLY drawback was that our lab loves to hike and while the village and the lifts are dog friendly, there is no overnight pet stays allowed at NS - even though the rentals are private residences. We decided to leave the dog at home this time so we could check out the entire onsite experience. If you don't have a furry friend to take along, Highly Recommended!

Trip Type: Family Review 2 of 16Did not get moneys worth
Could have been a bit cheaper, for the studio that we were alloted. The Linen were like typical Days Inn. The pantry was not stocked at all. Totally bare in terms of food, like sugar, basic salt and spices etc. Other wise the the room had the rustic cozy look with the gas fire place, that was a treat. Ah before I forget.. would have really enjoyed a flat screen TV :-) with some decent channels. Sound like a patato couch, but that really helps in winding down the night. Bottom line, if this was cheaper, yes it would have been worth it.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 3 of 16Enjoyable place, poor unit
We enjoyed being at Northstar. There is a lot to do. The recreation center is excellent. The only glitch was the particular unit we were in. The owner needs to update it. And, the carpets were filthy. We would stay again, but would specify that we wanted to inspect the unit. This unit should not be on the rental program at this time.

Trip Type: Family Review 4 of 16The Pros and Cons
When I booked the reservation I saw pictures that looked really nice of the type of room (or condo) that we would be staying in. When we got there it was a old rundown condo and it was not too close to the village. So we complained to the hotel staff and they were very nice and tried to be accommodating, however the only other available condos were pretty much the same as the one we got, but we were able to move into a section of condos that was closer to the village, so we could actually walk there. They have an amazing recreation center, great pools, hot tubs and much more. I would definitely rate the rec center as a 10. The lodging would be about a 2.

NorthStar during the summer was a real treat. Staff was very helpful, the room nice, and the setting just spectacular. Our stay was beyond at least a 4 star experience. We also got a great rate.

Trip Type: Rest and Recreation Review 8 of 16Good off-season deal
Stayed at Northstar for mountain biking their lift-serviced trail network. The 1BR condo was affordable and located a very shrot walk from the main village and I could literally coast from my door to the gondola. The bedroom had a little damage to the carpet and some stains, but overall the condition was good considering that this condo gets abused pretty hard during ski season. Check in was effortless and courteous. I will definitely come back when the snow starts falling.

Trip Type: Family Review 12 of 16Great location and great for families with children
We rented a 2 bdrm, 2 bath condo...there was only one small sofa to sit on in the living room area. The bedrooms are tiny. The carpet was in dire need of cleaning. The Lake Tahoe / Northstar area is beautiful and you probably won't spend much time in the condo.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 15 of 16Cramped and Hot
Although the area of Northstar (Tahoe) is beautiful, the condos we stayed in were small, in need of maintenance and HOT during the summer with no A/C and, overall, needed some TLC. Had there been a large floor fan, the circulation might have been better. The cheap, plastic 1x1 fan did not cut it. The bedroom furniture was over-sized and did not allow the closets and/or the sliding door to be fully opened. AND, the housekeeping dept. needs to be more efficient in their cleaning procedures. However, I must say that the front desk staff was very helpful and professional and met our needs. I am in the hospitality industry, therefore, I tend to have a more critical eye, but this truly was not worth the DISCOUNTED rate per night.
