Great location...exceeded the write up in terms of appointments, courteous staff, and unbelieveable rate thanks to this site. Safe neighborhood for evening strolls and accessable to Metro and local museums/cathedrals etc.

Beautiful, stylish hotel

I stayed at the Nelligan for two nights for our honeymoon. Being a native Montrealer, I can't say enough about the location, close to everything, the old Port, great restaurants and bars. The room was impeccable and absolutely gorgeous! Would definetly go back again!

Phenomenal Place to Stay

My wife and I went here on our honeymoon, and this is a great hotel. The staff was friendly and courteous from the time we pulled up our car outside to after we'd checked out. Our room was beautiful as well - lots of exposed brick and a great view of the courtyard below. The continental breakfast was strong, if not incredible, and the (included) wine and cheese in the evening was also a nice touch. I'd also recommend checking out the rooftop bar if it is even remotely nice out; it has a great view of the city and a nice selection of snacks and drinks. The hotel is also in a great part of Old Montreal - while they do offer customized guided car tours for a fee (we didn't try it), there are plenty of shops, restaurants, and attractions withing walking distance.

USA residents

Unfortunately, we were not able to stay at the Nelligan Hotel due to the fact, unbeknown to us, that starting this summer Americans now need a passport to return home from Canada. A U.S. Drivers License does not suffice anylonger. So, what does this have to do with the Nelligan Hotel???? Well, when I called them with our passport dilemma the woman who answered reported that another American couple had also recently called to say they too couldn't make it due to no passports. Then she went on to say we would be charged the full rate since we had not given a 48 hour notice. Now, it seems to me that the Nelligan Hotel would be very wise if they started reminding/informing their numerous American customers to bring along their passports- if they want to get home after traveling to Canada.
