Good choice for those on a budget

Location was OK, with a convenient bus stop nearby, except the hotel is on a very busy street so the bus stop on the other side means either jaywalking at your peril (and Miami drivers have absolutely no regard for pedestrians) or back tracking a block or so in either direction for the traffic signal (the green "walk" signal of which is no guarantee of your safety, by the way). It was easy to figure out how to get to downtown and then to our other destinations. Hotel, apparently a converted Super 8 motel (maybe not), was fine, although it could be a bit noisy, which is why running the AC all night worked well for us, temperature- as well as sound-wise. People were very friendly and helpful. Free continental breakfast wasn't anything to write home about, but was filling and free so we were fine with that.

Ironing board broken in room. Also, staff didn't have breakfast posted at appropriate time. I went downstairs expecting to eat and was left with nothing but luke-warm coffee.

Bad Vibe

While the check in clerk was nice, the area itself was not. There were random people in the parking lot, just sitting around on their blankets and people roaming. We were on the 1st floor and that made me a little scared. We just needed a bed to sleep in and if you like springs in your back, then this motel will suffice. Not worth the money we paid, if you're looking for one night before the cruise, don't stay here.

Pay a few dollars more, and look at another hotel

This hotel had the absolute bare essentials - but I would suggest paying a few dollars more (generally not much more) and going to another hotel. Our room smelled like smoke and febreze even tho we had requested a non-smoking room - the pillows were flat as a pancake, the nob to control the shower temperature didn't work, and there were people in who had put lawn chairs outside our door, smoking cigarettes and drinking beers.

convenient location

We were going on cruise the following am. The price and location were good. The staff was helpful and polite. We paid for transportation from the airport and to the cruise, it was combined with the hotel fees and that worked out good. The hotel itself wasn't the greatest, but for one night ok. No kleenexes in room and the pillows were very flat.

Terrible Hotel! Avoid at all costs!!!

So me and my girlfriend needed a place to stay for the night before she caught her plane out of Miami. We decided to book the Midtown Inn due to the good deals on it's cost and all of the promises of comfort and additional "perks" they offered (ie. Pool, wireless internet, complimentary "breakfast," friendly staff, etc.) So we decided to check in around 9 o'clock PM the night before her flight (we would be leaving at 5 AM the next morning). We get to the front desk and the worker behind the desk, a man that was bleeding from the top of the head gave us a hard time about checking in. He stated that it was hotel policy that you must be at least 21 years old to check in to the Midtown Inn. I showed him the printed receipt from hotels.com that it stated that the minimum check in age was 18 years old, not 21. After he raised his voice multiple times he agreed to let us the room, snarling the check out time as we walked out of the lobby to the room. Now the rooms all face the outside, so there is no interior hallway of any sort, and the neighborhood that the Midtown Inn is located in is dangerous and awful. On the cab ride over to the hotel we heard police sirens wailing, angry shouts and profanity from people walking the streets, and even our cab driver told us "not to go out and walk anywhere, because this is a veryyyy bad pat of town!" He repeated this multiple times, drilling it into our heads. So, despite being located by a dennys and other buildings (that have bars on their windows, kind of tells you something about the neighborhood), the danger imposed from venturing out of the hotel was not worth the risk. We walk towards the room, taking the stairs up a flight, since there is no ramp or elevator. All of the rooms are in an L-shape surrounding the parking lot below. In the corner of the parking lot is a small fenced in pool, filled with murky water and debris. So, when we get to the room we open the door and notice that there is a terrible musky smell coming from

Cheapest place in town -- and it shows

The MTH's only redeeming quality is its price. The hotel is run down, dirty and in a terrible neighborhood. Be prepared to be awoken at night by the tenants, airport noise and emergency vehicles. I stayed for over a week and when my employer found out where I was staying, paid for me to stay somewhere else. If you do decide to stay here, upgrade your rental car insurance. I couldn't sleep most night worrying about someone breaking into my car.

Convienent for a night if you are taking a cruise

Our flight arrived late at night and there was some confusion when we got there about our room but once that was settled everything went well. The room was clean and comfortable. The service set up the next day for transportation to the port went smoothly so overall it was a good stay even though we were there for less then 12 hours.

Convenient, but not Plush

In a city of very pricey hotels, the Midtown Inn is a good alternative. It was clean, comfortable and well kept-up, though it shows signs of age and is rather no-frills, for example, no coffee maker in the room (but perhaps these are not considered essential in Miami.) The hotel was not part of a chain but the decor and furnishings were the same as that in an older, lower-end chain we stayed in in another part of the U.S, so it was apparent that Midtown Inn had a former life. There is coffee in the lobby until 11 a.m. and it was very good coffee; however the "breakfast" consists of just a doughnut or other confection that was not fresh from a bakery but what you'd find on the shelf in a convenience store. However, there's a refrigerator in the room, and since I had my own hard-boiled eggs and fruit, this was not a problem. (There was also a Denny's close by.) The staff was friendly and there was a shuttle bus to the port, where a number of guests were headed. The best thing about staying here was the convenient location. It's a couple of blocks from the Design District, with art galleries and cafes, and closer still to an attractive fairly new outdoor mall with some big name stores as well as boutiques. We ate at two different Peruvian restaurants in the neighborhood. The hotel is directly on a bus line that will take you downtown and to tourist attractions.

Great for Night Before Cruise

Needed a place to stay the night before the cruise. Because we booked this online, had no idea what to expect. It served the purpose well enough. Shops (small mall) and restaurant were within walking distance. A major mall was a bus ride down the road (we didn't go there). We actually had enough time to walk toward the coast, catch a bus, and went down to the South Beach area for the evening which was fun. Lots of shops and places to eat there. No frills room although we were pleasantly surprised to have a micro-fridge in the room. The staff was EXCELLENT - very nice, helpful with anything we asked or requested (iron, directions, cab call). Definitely recommend for night before the cruise stay. The port is a short cab ride away. The office had a van available for a fee if we chose to use it.

Good room for the money

We only stayed at the hotel for 4 days. The room was clean and I enjoyed the staff service at the hotel. They where friendly and took care of our needs. If you looking for room with a fridge and Microwave this hotel has them. However, there was no radio or phone in the room. But the lobby is open all night and there is a Denny's in walking distance.
