Modest but well worth the cost.

Located near downtown New Orleans the is a modest but good value hotel. The owners will do all they can to help you during your stay.

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

The Good: Really liked the hotel owner, Mary. Helpful, sweet, pleasant. The bathroom was worn, but very clean (no mold!). Bed was clean and comfortable. The Bad: Unsavory neighborhood, but safe. Shoddy furniture. The Ugly: Coffee maker was disgustingly filthy. Asked for another and it was prompty replaced. Towels were clean, but stained. Rug is old and felt damp and dirty.

we stayed during mardi gras weekend. The staff was nice and it was pretty good considering the price compared to other hotels that weekend. They are really strict about any people in the room other than those present at check in/room capacity though.

A Nightmare

We'll start with the neighborhood! Inner city ghetto drug central or worse. The hotel was very old and in poor condition. Only one elevator worked, no working ice machines unless you wanted to venture into the on-sight bar/restaurant. The restaurant menu was hand written on notebook paper and was barely legible. The room was disappointing to say the least, very run down. The cable television didn't work, they offered to move us to another room but after viewing the condition of the other room we declined the offer. They then brought in a new cable splitter handed it to us said try this and left without giving us tools to change it out ourselves! We'll not even go into their inability to call a cab for guest and get it right or their version of a wakeup call. I do think I should mention the parking in a VERY bad neighborhood is self parking only! I know we won't go back....

Hidden Treasure

Upon arriving at the hotel the security guard assisted me in bringing in my luggage and then went to unlock the secure gate for the parking area. Know that my car was secure was a big relief. Although the pool wasn't open due to weather conditions the layout was gorgeous.

Does Need Improvement

Overall, the stay was okay. Considering we went for Voodoo festival, the hotel was alright. We were walking distance from our destination, traffic was not bad. Although, when we got in the room, there was no phone, the outlets by the bed didn't work, the vent in the bathroom didn't work, and we had to share the balcony with 3 other rooms. The staff was okay. The pool looked nice, but it was too cold to swim. A friend's room didn't have a trashcan and they had lockers for a safe. Overall, I think I would stay there again for voodoo festival only. Other than that, it wasn't a nice hotel, but the rates were great.
