Microtel Inn & Suites Airport

Too much money!

I booked three rooms for my family and was amazed that we were all beside eachother. The employees were kind, but certainly not overly friendly. My 9 month old niece had been crawling on her bedroom floor and within 15 minutes her hands and knees were a dirty black color. The deluxe bkft is all carbs...not even a piece of fruit available. There is not a single restaurant in sight of the hotel. The phone in my parents room did not work and they didn't get their wake-up call. The desk clerk was certain that I was calling the wrong room when I was calling to advise them to not come down for bkft. The rooms are spacious though and nicely decorated. The bathrooms are clean and the beds were comfy. However, I wouldn't pay to stay here again.

A few problems

We arrived to find our bathtub had not been cleaned. This hotel also serves large tour groups and with three bus loads all trying to get breakfast in the morning it was a disaster.

Has not had much attention since my last stay a few years back.

Service with a smile?

When we arrived at the hotel, we were greeted by a receptionist who was 'less than pleased' to see us. When asked about a 3 AM shuttle run to the airport, she replied, " We will not offer the shuttle ride because of the hour, unless the guest is willing to pay additional fees." The beds were hard, but that was nothing compared to being shuffled from room to room. We got our first room, settled in, put the baby to bed, THEN got a phone call from the office telling us that we had to change rooms. That was convenient!! It doesn't matter how much or how little you pay for a room, you still deserve to be treated with respect during your stay!

Great Staff!

When our vacation plans changed--couldn't reach our ultimate destination--due to extreme weather conditions, the staff at Microtel spent a great deal of time helping us find new lodging and a "new" vacation plan to salvage our time in the area. The assistance was unexpected, far beyond expectations (she booked us at another hotel chain!), and entirely wonderful. Had a great time thanks to the staff's help and enthusiasm. Would definitely go back!
