Trip Type: Romance Review 2 of 298Great for the price
Considering many of the surrounding Santa Monica hotels are very expensive, Marina del Rey was a more affordable option. The hotel staff was very friendly, but the hotel is rather dated. The rooms could definitely use some ambiance. There were no lounge chairs and not much decor. The window in our room was falling apart. The beds were clean and comfortable, and the view of the marina was wonderful. My biggest complaint was the smell in the morning. We were suddenly overwhelmed with an awful smell coming into the room. It smelled like rotten eggs and was coming from the hallway. We never found out what it was. If you are looking for a luxury hotel keep searching. If you want a low price place to stay near Santa Monica this is a great option!

Trip Type: Business Review 3 of 298Good room for money
Great location, overlooking marina. Rooms are a bit run-down: slightly stained rugs, could use repainting. Generally comfortable and clean. Staff was very helpful: they gave me breakfast vouchers when I did not get the room I requested, then moved me to a better room the 2nd day.

Trip Type: Business Review 4 of 298Nice Place
Had a great 4 days here. Wish the rooms came with a small fridge. Staff was excellent. Rooms were clean, bright. Sweet little balcony. Toilet and bathroom was a little tight but other than that no complaints.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 5 of 298Location and staff are great
While the physical building is showing signs of its age, MRDH is a great place to "get away" while in LA. The important stuff works - pool, ice maker, sea breeze or a/c - add in great views and quiet location. Close to Venice, Santa Monica if you want action. 10 mins to airport. Not for every one, but I like it - I've been visiting since the mid-80s (when it was in prime). Actually costs less now in actual dollars.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 6 of 298OLD BUT PLEASANT HOTEL
Although the Hotel is old and in need of renovation, this remains one of my select hotels when staying in the Marina del rey area. After receiving our room keys I found that we did not have a room with a view of the marina. I reverfied what I had reserved on Hotels.com, I approached the front desk and was told that all rooms booked through Hotels.com are standard rooms (regardless of Hotels.com listings) with a parkinglot view only. Even with this information I was offered an upgrade to a marina view room at no additional charge. Ontop of this I was provided a $50 dollar gift card for any inconvience this had caused. If you want the best rooms/view, ask for the West Wing. These rooms seem to be more up to date, larger, and provide a better view of the harbor. The staff continues to be very courteous and are always there if you need anything.

Trip Type: Family Review 8 of 298Wonderful location, need alot of updating
I spilled a drop of lotion on the floor and when I wiped it up, the rag I was using was black, like the floor had not been scrubbed in awhile. To turn on the light where the toilet area is, it also turned on the light in the sink area closer to the bedroom, so if you had to go in the night and turn on the light you woke up the others in the room sleeping. We finally got a flashlight to use in the toilet area. Had to ask for a refrigerator, none provided. The bed was very comfortable, the room was roomy, but on the tables where there had been chips or rings, they just painted them over in black where the damage showed through. They encouraged open windows but there was no screen, a person could easily fall out. Loved the view, the people were very nice and helpful.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 9 of 298are you kidding me!
Carpet looked like a DNA pound, the cieling had water damage and peeling, the were two holes in the wall where maybe there had been a picture hanging; one of the holes had a hat-pin stuck in the hole. Breakfast prices were unbielavable! $8.00 for a cold bagel and coffee.

The location was great! Fantastic view from my terrace (get the marina view, the city view overlooks the parking lot, yuk) The outside of the hotel and hotel lobby are well kept. The staff is great! The rooms do need updating, the floor carpet in my room did not appear to be clean, the wallpaper was coming off the wall, water spots on the ceiling. I only stayed two nights, so it was great, since i was not in the room very much. The parking is free, the view is great, the staff is great.

Trip Type: Family Review 12 of 298A little pricey
The hotel was nice but a little over priced for what the rooms and restaurant provided. The location was somewhat isolated from the rest of the area. The marina view was fantastic. The hotel employees were friendly but acted like they were better than most of the guests.

Trip Type: Business Review 14 of 298Need new beds
Everything was fine, except the beds were not very comfortable and a lousy selection on ancient TVs. Couldn't even get Comedy Central to see the Daily Show.

Great room for the price. Hotel could use an update, but not in terrible condition. Excellent view from room, staff extremely friendly. Not much in walking distance, but many attractions within a short drive.
