Trip Type: With Friends Review 3 of 26pricey and old, but clean, spaacey, and comfortable
a bit stuffy, but definitely comfortable and spacey. pretty good gym, by hotel standards. good location 1 block off Paulista. brunch is simply not worth it for 50 reais... room service breakfast is tastier and more reasonable.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 4 of 26Great hotel, but could use some upkeep
The Maksoud Plaza is pretty famous as a hotel in Sao Paulo, most people throughout Brazil have heard of it. It must have been the place to stay back in the 1980s right after it was built. But 20 years later, it could stand to have a little more done to keep up with the trendy city. The room was nice, clean, and large. But there were little places on the wall where the wallpaper was coming away from the wall. The hotel staff was great and everyone that I encountered spoke English and were very helpful. The area around the hotel is great, Paulista Avenue (one of the main streets in downtown Sao Paulo) is about 2 blocks away. There are a lot of eating and shopping choices within walking distance. Everything is a la carte and it adds up quickly. 10 minutes of internet is R$8, the Sunday brunch is about R$40. Even local calls are R$2 each. One of the best parts of the hotel is the free shuttle service to the airport (GRU). Cab fare from the hotel is over R$110. They do recommend signing up for it at the front desk in advance so they know your schedule, but it is a free ride. I only stayed one night, so it made the cost of staying there much easier.

Trip Type: Business Review 5 of 26Excellent service, very nice place, but bring your platinum cards!
Despite the fact the lobby decor is circa 1975, it's not "dated", but elegantly retro. The restaurant's food is well prepared and presented. The room was spacious and elegant and had at a nice price. BUT..... The amenities and incidentals are OUTRAGEOUSLY overpriced for the market. Drinks at the bar cost more than in London and despite the quality of the food and its availability at all hours is very expensive for the market. I wouldn't call it a "Bait and switch", but be aware of the cost BEFORE you buy anything other than the room. They appear to cater to primarily foreign travelers, whom I expect they are counting on to be unfamiliar with the city and likely to confine their stay to the hotel. They take full advantage of this.

Service was exemplary and staff generally comfortable with English speaking guests!! Front desk personnel was also helpful in securing additional transportation and dinner reservations. Excellent buy and highly recommended.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 9 of 26We Enjoyed our stay very much
My two sons and I found this hotel a very nice and good choice for us. We enjoyed the pool and location very much. We would not think twice about returning to this hotel and would recommend this as a great place to stay.

Reminds you of an aging old lady of say the 70's. There are shades of an elegance, style and sophistication that should be strengthened and maintained. I would stay here again.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 13 of 26Disgusting Property-DO NOT STAY HERE!
Upon check in, the rampant smell of the outdated lobby was enough to make me turn around. The room looked like a tv set from the 70's. It had wood paneling, gross drab draperies and bed coverings and stained carpeting. The bathroom caulking was either missing or moldy. I did not end up staying the night and am in the process of getting my money refunded. This will not meet the cleanliness standards of even the least discriminate traveler.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 14 of 26Average Hotel
Maskoud Hotel is an average hotel for your money the rooms are spacious, you can tell that this hotel was a huge hit years ago. It's very busy, the amenities are slightly costly for your money in comparison to other hotels in Brazil. Location is ok but in Sao Paulo thats about all you get is ok when it comes to location.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 15 of 26For the money it was Ok
My reservation was not correct from the beginning. I have traveled and stayed at many hotels through out the world, am also a group planner for the military. This was one of the supposedly best hotels in Sao Paulo. It had poor room service, with long waits. It had no music or social atmosphere at the bar. There was a beautiful fountain and piano in the middle of the water too bad in the three days no played the piano nor did they have the fountain on. I stayed two days prior in a 3 star hotel at a lower price and was alot better conditions the rooms and the TV was larger and newer. The room was a basic Days INN room. The hotel business center was very expensive for only 30 min use $18, anything more or fraction you paid the entire hour which was 50 reales close to $45.
