Trip Type: Romance Review 1 of 667Great Place, but lousy sloooow service and slower Elevators!
We had preregistered and it still took us over 20 minutes to get checked in. the elevators were very slow and the 3rd one actually broke when we got on it. On the 1st go round neither of our 4 keys for 2 ooms worked. We had to go down and spend 15 more minutes getting that fixed. then I had to go up 17 flights of stairs since only 2 elevators worked. One of the reasons we picked this hotel was to enjoy the rooftop hottub. After an hour plus getting checked in we went to the rooftop to find the door to the rooftop closed at 11pm and we ere 10 minutes late, and the manager could do nothing to help. Our plans were ruined for an anniverssary evening. the place is very nice. The next day we went to the roof and it all looked great, and then we went to the complimentary breakfast that was excellent! Overall the roon and facilitys were great, but one should also be prepared for the $25 parking fee.

Trip Type: Romance Review 2 of 667Best night sleep ever
The beds are so comfortable. I don't sleep well at hotels, but got a great night sleep here. Besides with free milk and cookies at night how can you go wrong?

Trip Type: Romance Review 3 of 667Great night away
My husband and I needed a nice trip away for a night and I though I would surprise him. After extensive research of hotels in Houston, I found great reviews and decided to go with it! Houston downtown is not very impressive, but it is a great place to stay if you want to go to the bars or the theater as the theater district is close by. The staff is very friendly and accomodating. The club room is very nice and spacious. What interested me in the hotel was the FREE happy hour from 5:30-6:30 which includes beer, wine and soda. They also serve fresh, soft baked cookies with three different kinds of milk from 8-10 and they have a REAL continental breakfast consisting of eggs, hashbrowns, bacon as well as you usual fruits, bagals and cereals, coffee and juices. You MUST go on the rooftop. This is another perk. They have a small rooftop pool and jacuzzi but the view is AMAZING. I would recommend this hotel for this a lone! The exercise room I was also impressed with. A lot of nice machines, weights, mirrors that surrounded the room and a few TV's which is also on the rooftop just before you go outside to the pool. It was very quiet on our floor. We didn't hear any other guests. The room was very clean and we also had a nice city view from the 13th floor. The beds and pillows and sheets were VERY comfortable. The bathroom had a large garden tub. We stayed in a room with a mini kitchen which we made a steak dinner. My only complaint with that is not enough untensils and one of the burners didn't work. The only downfall is that of course being downtown is the parking. They valet for 28.00 but we opted to park ourselves at 8.00 a day. We really enjoyed our stay. It was just what we needed to get a away from "everyday life" and have a nice evening a lone with each other. I highly recommend this hotel.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 6 of 667Needs Serious Improvement
I would first like to say that the highlight of our stay at Magnolia was the valet service. Those gentlemen were super professional and very good. It all went down from there. It took us a long time to get our bags, I saw them just sitting in the lobby, we checked in at a very late hour, no reason for the delay, we had to call twice to get them. A bulb was burned out in the bathroom light making it even more difficult to see in an already too dark room. The sheets were an ok thread count, however they didn't fit the mattress properly and half the mattress was showing. They also had holes in them. (The sheets). The hallway carpets were filthy, not sure about the carpet in the guest room, it was a dark color and I wore shoes the entire time. For the price of this hotel these things should not be issues. I think the management might need a review. Whoever manages the valet maybe should work on the hotel.

Very modern and clean rooms and common area amenities at a resonable price.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 8 of 667Great Hotel
I love the bedding, very comfortable, reminds me of my bedding on a cruise. I like that there was internet access in the room. As I brought my laptop and was able to keep up to date of what was going on at home. I like that breakfast was offered but was tired of the same menu each day I stayed which was 5 days.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 9 of 667Great room, great service, except for phone reception
The room was nice, the service of the staff was excellent; the only problem we had was trying to talk to somebody on the phone when we called the hotel, either from outside the hotel or from the room.

Trip Type: Family Review 10 of 667Great hotel but beware!!!!
Hotel was great but beware it costs 25 dollars to park overnight and the elevators take forever to arrive and then they are usually full. Best go up with one first to ensure you can get in the lift to go down!!!!!

Trip Type: Romance Review 11 of 667Employees Very Rude
The hotel was very nice but, the employees were very rude including the managers. They need more valet workers and and a class on customer service.

Trip Type: Romance Review 12 of 667Friendly and Quality
The building that holds the Magnolia Hotel has history dating back to the 30's. Decor was fabulous and distinctly Texan in a modern and tasteful way.....leather lined elivators and lobby walls. Our stay was great, the staff was very friendly and our room was clean, cool and comfortable. No hassle with the air conditioning like you find in most hotels these days. Great romantic get away.

Trip Type: Rest and Recreation Review 13 of 667Great but...
The Valet was very expensive (24.00 a night) and there is no other place to park in the middle of downtown. The price wouldn't be so bad if they had timely service but it takes 20min to get your car and they will not hold it for longer than 5 min downstairs. I was even given the wrong car (same make, same model) but not my car. Overall, the Hotel Magnolia is nice and I would stay again.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 15 of 667Great Birthday Weekend!
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. I was celebrating my birthday and despite I do reside in Houston, I wanted a place to relax and enjoy myself. The hotel's staff was polite, professional and so AWESOME!! I will definitely be back and refer anyone else there from out of town.
