    The hotel was clean and close to the conference I was attending- as the Conference Center is across the street- but I was delayed an hour plus beyond the check-in time due to the previous evening being sold out, and then I gave my debit card as the card to go on file and they preauthorized over $800 to my account- which they corrected once I brought it to their attention- just not a 5 star hotel and you are paying a 5 star price

    First, I must say that there is nothing wrong with the functionality or cleanliness of the room, and the level of service was acceptable. However, this hotel certainly did not meet my expectations of the 4 star rating. The room itself was an average room that you find in most mid-range hotels around the country. Thus, I would definitely have to say that it is overpriced.

Location. The Loews Hotel Philadelphia offers a prime location in downtown Philadelphia, one block from City Hall and Reading Terminal Market. The Philadelphia International Airport is less than 12 miles, and the Convention Center is adjacent to the hotel. Additional points of interest include the Liberty Bell, Philadelphia Zoo, Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts and the Philadelphia Museum of Art, all within three miles of the hotel.

Hotel Features. The Loews Hotel Philadelphia is housed in the former Philadelphia Saving Fund Society building, recognized as a National Historic Landmark for being the world's first modernist skyscraper. The hotel lobby features black-granite and marble flooring and Cartier clocks. Necessities are met with a full range of hotel amenities and services. A closet at the front desk provides umbrellas, computer supplies, belts and ties. Children's gift bags are provided upon arrival, and the hotel also offers children's programs. The front desk supplies games, DVDs books and CD players. A fully-staffed business center features two computers with high-speed Internet access, photocopy and shipping services. Live music is featured on weekends at the hotel's restaurant, Sole Food, which serves seafood dishes and specialty cocktails, and welcomes solo diners to join a large communal table. Room service is available 24-hours per day. The Loews Hotel Philadelphia hosts Breathe Spa & Fitness. Massage therapy can be requested in up to two-hour sessions. The fitness center offers a full range of workout equipment and use of an indoor lap pool furnished with Kidbanas.

Guestrooms. This Art Deco-style hotel features 581 contemporary guestrooms furnished with chaise lounges, and desks paired with ergonomic chairs. Beds are draped with 300-thread count linens. Tech-savvy enhancements include flat-panel televisions, MP3 adaptors, and wireless Internet access for a fee. Laptop-compatible in-room safes are complimentary. Bathrooms include oversized cotton-terry, ringspun bath sheets, Bloom toiletries and "doeskin" bathrobes.

Expert Tip. Loews Hotel Philadelphia serves a selection of health-conscious breakfast fare. However, for those who are subject to temptation, the breakfast menu also features signature items such as Loews Frozen Hot Chocolate, Loews Banana Split and Loews Oatmeal Brulée.
