Outstanding, Amazing

I picked this for our family stay in Marrakech (two adults, two younger kids.) Everything was outstanding and I can say this is one of the best hotel experiences I've ever had. The staff was not just courteous and friendly, they always went out of their way to help you out -- this is true for the entire staff (front desk, restaurant, cleaning, maintenance.) The riad is an oasis in a busy, hustle and bustle city. It is quite, peaceful, spotlessly clean and absolutely beautiful -- you can tell the attention they put into every detail. The restaurant is a fantastic way to start the day -- delicious breakfast with daily variety plus the Moroccan pancakes. In the evenings, the meals are prepared by a talented chef who pays attention to taste AND presentation. A few examples of how they go out of their way...they made special dinners upon request for our kids...always remember your room number without you telling them...bring you tea and cookies upon your arrival...take time to give you a tour of the riad and explain the city map...bring hot mint tea to your room upon request. Great location -- right between the two king's palaces, and a 15-20 minute walk from the Jemaa el Fna main square. I often don't get around to rating hotel stays, but they do such a fantastic job at Les Borjs de la Kasbah that I wanted to take the time to share my experience.

Quiet Comfort

After spending time in the hustle and bustle -- "ordered chaos" -- of the town square, it was always a great comfort to come back to the peace, quiet, and restful relaxation of The Les Borjs de la Kasbah. Lovely Nadia and friendly Mohammed were wonderful hosts and all the staff were so accommodating. The rooms are extraordinary for the price and very comfortable by any standards. The place has an old charm that makes you feel at home instantly. I would recommend it to any and everyone. I still don't get the half-door showers so popular in Europe, which they also have at Les Borjs. Just doesn't make sense that they actually build a bathing area that invites you to soak the bathroom floor. :-) Still, I defy anyone to say this place isn't paradise.

Thank Goodness for a place like Les Borjs...

4 star accomodations with 5 star treatment by the staff. You are treated like a queen or king once you set foot in Les Borjs. You really have everything you need at this hotel. A great place to escape the heat, smells, and everything that is Marrakesh...trust me you need it! I think a major bonus was the pool, because it is greatly appreciated in late August in 46 C. The poolside bar is also a bonus....who doesn't enjoy a cold drink by the pool? Breakfast is included which includes assorted pastries, egg, jams, orange juice, crepes, coffee. It is not the best... I would have liked some variety and less bread. There was a dinner and entertainment package on the day of our arrival which I highly recommend if available. It included two different groups of local musical performers, a belly dancer, a henna tattoo artist, and a 4 course meal which included...chicken pastilla, assorted vegtable tangine, lamb cous cous, fruit salad. It was the best meal I had in Marrakesh, but be warned that it is a lot of food! Room was very spacious and decorated very nicely. Another bonus of internet access. I didn't really like the location b/c it is quite an "interesting walk" through kasbah to get to the Medina and Souks. You also have to trek away quite a bit for food outside the hotel. We did get lucky and found a wonderful japanese restaurant nearby...Tatchibana. I also wish they had better tour/trip packages available at the hotel.

What a great place!

This was one of the best hotel experiences of my life. The staff could not have been more helpful or friendly. Our room was very comfortable with all the amenities. The hotel itself was beautiful once you get inside. The streets of the kasbah section of the old Merrakech medina can be a little small and shabby looking. But wait until you walk inside! The restaurant was great, and we enjoyed the cooking class! They were very helpful in arranging guides and excursions. My wife and daughter loved the hammam (spa). I loved the internet access. If you don't like steps, be sure to ask for a ground floor room. But stay here if you go to Merrakech.

Moroccan hotel

We chose this hotel because we wanted to wake up knowing we were in Morocco. The rooms were decorated wonderfully, the beds were comfortable, and the staff was very helpful. Also, the buffet breakfast had a nice variety of food. The shower could have been a little cleaner, but I have seen much worse.

Truly great

Everything here was great, from the food to the decor! Staff were very protective and helpful to a woman traveling alone. Lots of thoughtful touches throughout ?rose petals on the bed, locally-made rose-scented bath products. Will stay here again.

Wonderful Riad

The hotel was exactly liked pictured, and had the exotic appeal of Marrackech. When we arived (on an unusual cold, damp evening) we were immediately escourted to a parlor and served hot mint tea and cookies. Everyone was extremely gracious, and we were all very pleased with the hotel. Our only conplaint was that our room was freezing. They came up several times to try to get the heater working and even had a technician come while we were out at dinner--but unfortunately, they never got it working. Hopefully they got a new heater--since it was a wonderful place to stay and I would stil recommend it highly.
