Trip Type: Romance Review 3 of 544Latham Hotel is tired
"Tired and worn out" are the words that describe the Latham hotel. Upon arriving they sent us to a room with a double bed, even though we ordered a Queen size. The bed visibly dipped in the middle. When I tried it out, I felt like i was in a 1960-style sitcom when my husband and I rolled into the middle and could barely swim ourselves out. We were sent to another room which did have a Q-sized bed, but the mattress was still woefully lacking and left us stretching our backs every morning. Also, the sheets were polyester and scratchy and the comforter was also poly, worn thin, and pilled. It did not evoke a sense of cleanliness. Next, the shower drained so slowly that I was left in ankle-deep water in moments. The bath also only had two towels in it. This is not a huge deal, since I am a one-shower a day person--but if we wanted to have a post-nap refresher, we would have been out of luck and missing the small sense of luxury that we might count on in a better hotel. The cable at the hotel is also lacking, no opportunities to download movies and the selection of tv programs was limited, so if a hotel guest wanted to do some serious chilling out in front of the tube--you are out of luck. Also, the cabinet that holds the TV and has drawers for clothes underneath was like a tavern puzzle. You had to close the doors to the tv cabinet in order to open the drawers underneath them. Also, the hotel has no room service or mini bar, yet charged $50/night to your card for "incidentals." This seemed weird and unreasonable to us, since the only incidental that we might take was the one bottle of water in the room. It is in the middle of Rittenhouse Sq -- which was a great neighborhood.

Location was perfect-everything within walking distance. Bathrooms need remodeling bad! Also need new beds. Matress was horrible. Service was excellent.

the rooms need renovating. the carpet was torn, the floor at the entrance to the room was sagging and the room was dusty. but it is a convenient location.

Trip Type: Business Review 6 of 544Not bad
Hotel was cozy, clean, and in a very convenient location close to Rittenhouse Square and lots of places to eat. Beds were not the most comfortable and the room was on the small size. My only other gripe is that I booked a non-smoking room with a queen-size bed but due to a "computer glitch" was given a smoking room with two double-beds, and other guests were unable to stay in the hotel at all due to the glitch.

our one night at the Latham was what we expected. Great location and good price for a city hotel. No complaints. I travel alot and must stay at least 60 nights a year in hotels.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 8 of 544"Service Recovery Needed"
There was no cafe, room service or any type of food/beverage service in the hotel. Elevator was broken for approx 12 hours on one day of the weekend...no one attempted to apologize, no one hung a sign on the elevator, no offer of water, and only 4 chairs in lobby to accommodate the many people that were waiting for elevator to be fixed, because they could not walk the stairs due to health problems, cumbersome luggage, etc. Front desk was unmanned most of the weekend. You had to shout into the back room to get someone to attend to you. Doormen were very helpful with bags, getting cabs, etc, however.

they need to fix the crystals in the sconces by the doorway, but it truly did not bother us. Great hotel, old world, wish their restaurant was opened.

Trip Type: Romance Review 13 of 544Great Location, But..
Beds were quite uncomfortable (they cave in towards the center). The water pressure in the toilet sucked, so you have to hold down the handle for 10 seconds. Good for one night maybe. Fantastic location near Rittenhouse.

Trip Type: Business Review 14 of 544Old Fashioned Comfort
Being a person who prefers a cozy room with "antiques" rather than big and modern (aka sterile) this was the perfect hotel! I came to Philly to attend a seminar at a nearby hotel, but since the rooms there were all booked I ended up at the Latham, and I was so glad! Not only were the rooms considerably less expensive, but in my opinion more beautiful. I would definitely stay there again.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 15 of 544Good Bang for the Buck
I booked this hotel on Hotel.com, which was half the price of booking directly. For the price I paid, it was a very good bang for the buck. If I had paid the full rates, I probably wouldn't feel that way. Great location! Rooms are clean and starting to show their age but still fine.
