Trip Type: Family Review 2 of 82Great Room for the money
Plenty of room, great location. In todays world most people bring their own bed linens (sheets/pillow cases) so the only flaw won't be a flaw if you bring your own linens. The linens provided on the beds were pretty threadbare. I'd have thrown them out several washes ago.

Trip Type: Family Review 6 of 82We got a good deal
The main reason we stayed at the La Playa was because we got a really good deal through hotels.com. We ended saving 300 dollars by booking through hotels.com. That also includes getting upgraded to a ocean front room aside from an ocean view room like we were going to book through the hotel. For what we paid we had a decent room. There are no frills or anything like that, basically you get what you pay for. But it satisfied our needs. The only thing I really had a problem with was the outside Tiki bar, which isn't bad if you like to party. But those of us who don't had to listen to extremely loud music until 12 midnight on Friday and Saturday. My sister in-law and her family were with us and they have two very small children, needless to say they couldn't sleep. The pools both in and out were very nice. The indoor was very nice and warm, warmer than the jacuzzi even. Though I kind of expected it not to work from other reviews I had read, and sure enough it was still quite cold water for a hot tub. Hotel staff were accomodating and professional. The hotel itself is a bit worn and could use some updating, but as I said this is not a 5 star resort, but if you are looking for a place to sleep, then it will suite you fine.

Trip Type: Family Review 8 of 82Needs Improvement
My first impression of La Playa was that it needed some work! When we first checked out the room I noticed that it was really showing its age! There were cracks on the walls and under the carpet. The AC unit had the front falling off and the balcony driped water from a crack in the balcony above ours. The view was great (Oceanfront) and the room did smell clean. In fact the whole room was pretty clean but did show its age. The fact that it had a kitchenette helps if you want to cut costs. The hotel did have activities for the children such as bingo, pool games and trivia. The hot tubs did not work but the pool was nice and there was a DJ that played music. The Tiki bar served drinks but the frozen drinks were expensive($7 PER DRINK) and did not have much alcohol in them. I did see a comedy show at the hotel which was pretty good and inexpensive. The staff was very helpful. So, all in all, if you are looking for a "good deal" then La Playa is for you. If you want something nice for a romantic hotel look elsewhere.

Trip Type: Family Review 9 of 82Great for the money
First night we stayed in a partial view room which wasn't great the door looked liked it had been kicked in the back patio door didn't lock we had to stick a chair to prevent it from being opened while away. The 7 nights after that we was in a full ocean view room which was nice except the carpets were nasty, You could get out of the shower and walk around the room for less than a min and your feet would look like you've been street walking without shoes..Just a tip to the hotel clean your carpets atleast once a month.Nethier of the 2 hot tubs outside worked which was a bummer you figure with the money they make they could afford to have someone come out and fix them. The pool was nice I guess , Plus there is a very nice lady that rents out lounge chairs and umbrellas plus some other cool stuff.I thought the towels and wash rags had a odor also we found a small dried chocolate spot on the bed which left me wondering if the beds were changed. If they can fix these minor problems they would be a great hotel. But like I said its good for the money but they have some work to do thats why they are only have 2.5 stars by there name.

I was booked by hotels.com in a very nice bed and breakfast however Hotels.com called me back and said that the rooms were overbooked so they put me in this hotel. Granted it was race week in daytona and I'm sure most of the Hotels were already booked, I did think that the room would be better then it turned out to be. When you went to the pool you had to take the slow unairconditioned elevator to the second floor to use the rest room, the door on our room stuck so bad tgat you had to have brut strength just to close the door. I asked to have it fixed but my complaint fell on deaf ears. The hotel was old looking, the hot tubs were roped off and green so we could not use them my advice is to stay away from this hotel for what it cost during this week

Great breakfast buffet. No menu, only buffet. Very nice people working there, constantly keeping coffee and juice filled. Great location. Publix, dollar tree and other stores across street. Alot of eating places within walking distance, Bertie's, beside Publix have the best cheeseburgers. We stayed on 1st floor, with pool right outside door and we could get to pool and beach right out our sliding glass door. We knew ahead of time about the parking fee and the price of the hotel was so low, we didn't mind paying it. We never had a problem parking because it is so much room. We did not have to pay the safe fee because we didn't use it. It was very quiet and we will be going to stay there again.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 12 of 82Check out other hotels first
Look at other hotels . . both hot tubs were full of green water and tree branches, no breakfast buffet . . menu only . . $5.00 per day to park your car, $1.50 per day for the in-room safe. If you get up early enough you can get a spot on the beach, otherwise a rental company sets up all their chairs, umbrellas, atv's right in front of the hotel. . . not worth the hassle . . I Do Not Recommend this hotel!!

Trip Type: Family Review 13 of 82Okay for the Money
The hotel was okay for what we paid. The housekeeping service was very lacking. One day they did not service the room at all. We left the room at about 8:00 am and returned to our room at about 11:00 pm. The room had not been cleaned and no claean towels had been left. I called the front desk to see why the room was not serviced and was told they did not know but housekeeping was gone and there was nothing they could do about it. When I asked about getting clean towels, I was told if I wanted them I would have to come to the front desk and get them. The front desk clerk was very rude and did not care that the room was not cleaned. Another night the fire alarm kept going off, we did not know if it was a real fire or if the alarm was broken. I tried calling the front desk several times and no one ever answered. We finally went and found an employee who said the alarm was messed up. The hotel service if very lacking.
