    It is thought that 'Hell" is hot... this hotel room is "hotter than hell". The room was to have a ceiling fan; it only had a "box" fan. The only facility that was okay was the pool. They are NO services available.The entire complex of rooms and condos is like something for a para military group. If it were not for the hotel just 5 minutes walk away we would have been miserable couple. We definitely do not even suggest you look at the place, let alone stay there.

    The staff were great. The room was not bad. There IS hot water! No a/c but you dont need it. Fan works just fine. Although its kind of hard to find, after you do find it, the location is perfect. Its right across from the beach and it really gives you a tropical sense of being in Costa Rica.

Location. Located on the Caribbean coast in the charming village of Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica, La Perla Negra Resort sits on the secluded black sands of Playa Negra. Guests are only a short walk from town, where they can indulge in great cuisine, locally made gifts and a happening night life. Three kilometers from the hotel, one can trek through the fertile jungle and swim under a magnificent waterfall and rainbow. The lush Finca la Isla Botanical Gardens are situated only one kilometer away.

A plethora of recreational activities are located nearby, including fishing, horseback riding, yoga, rafting, surfing, snorkeling and tennis. The hotel is also home to an ocean-front pool with refreshing poolside bar.

Hotel Features. Guests can dine at the on-site Perla Negra restaurant, and the hotel offers complimentary breakfasts each morning. The 24-hour, multilingual staff can provide a safe-deposit box and arrange airport transportation for a fee.

Guestrooms. The 24 guestrooms and six suites at La Perla Negra Resort feature balconies or patios and offer views of the jungle or ocean. All include private bathrooms and ceiling fans. Refrigerators and microwave ovens are available upon request.

Expert Tip. The staff can make arrangements with tour companies in the area for one-half day and full-day tours, or it can simply point more adventurous guests in the right direction.
