Does not meet expectations!

When I booked this room at the La Copa Inn in McAllen, TX., I expected to see what I saw on the website, nice clean rooms, a nice pool, clean carpets and furniture. I have come to expect such things booking through Hotels.com. This time, however, I got very dirty carpets, not stained, but residue from them left on my baby's knees when she first crawled on the floor! We had hair in the sink drain and not enough towels, dust on the cushions of the chairs that rose in puffs when you put anything on them. If this hotel is not run by the La Copa Inn company, then they should demand to have the name removed from the sign. This place was deplorable!

What you paid for is what you get

If the only thing you are looking for is a place to stay, then you should get a room at La Copa Inn. Room service is not the best, but you can always walk by the front desk and ask for towels. In terms of location is very convenient since it close to HEB (supermarket), gas station, mall and restaurants.

Don't Let others Fool You

We booked this hotel thinking it was the same as the other Copa Inns in the area. Technically, it is not owned by the same people but so what. We stayed in the heart of McAllen (10th Steet) for a riduculous price. All we wanted was a room to stay with cold AC and a TV. We got that and a mini pool. A place to just cool off after a round of golf. Here's the bonus, if you want to eat authenic Mexican food - there's this place called Casa de Taco right behind it. We went there for diner and to our surprise, forget going accross the border, its right there. The atmosphere and the meal was unforgetable. Guacamole salad (large), frijoles a la charra, homemade tortillas, Carte Blanca, 4 Margaritas, 2 main entres to die for, music, and service like no other (ask for Alphonso), and $27 later - you got to be kidding me. Who needs to stay anywhere else. The honey did some shopping, I played golf - life is good at the Copa.

bad hotel

the hotel smelled like the carpets got wet.they dont have any free breakfast.i had to check in through a little window outside and it was very windy.the house keeping didnt know any english. there was no t.v guide. there was no soaps avaliable for you.when the people upstairs a/c came on my whole room will shack i couldnt sleep. they didnt have extra pillows avalible. it was an over all bad nights staying there. the only thing great was it was close to where i needed to be.

Ok, but too much noise

This hotel has nice staff, the room is nice and comfortable but if you want it to RELAX, don't get it!!! There is a lot of noise! You can hear when the other guests are using the water because the pipes make a lot of noise! Of course if you won't be there most of the time or are watching TV then it doesn't really matter.

Mattress very uncomfortable

It is your basic hotel for the price. Mattress Very unconfortable. Dis not have a pleasant sleep.

Needs Improvement

-Television remote control did not work properly. After several attempts with front desk, where they provided us a couple of more controls, the result was the same. We had to unplug television to set it off. -Telephone line was down at all. I had to cross the street and use a public phone to call an uncle of mine. -The rest of the facility was in good conditions.

You Get What You Pay For

Amenities limited to color TV, two bars of soap and one bottle of shampoo -- no micro, iron or ironing board, no fitness room. Front desk lent me an iron (no board available) but it had so much scorching that I was afraid to touch it to my clothes. One light bulb burned out and I left it and a note asking that it be replaced, didn't happen (perhaps the housekeeper can't read English.) The good news is that WiFi is available throughout the hotel. I recommend that you stay at the sister La Copa just a few blocks south, especially if there are more than one. It's about $20 more but you get much more, including a substantial breakfast.

Great room for the money

I highly recommend this hotel if you are on a budget. The staff is friendly and I slept great during my stay over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

Unfriendly service

I called the motel to get directions and they left on hold without any explanation whatsoever. When I finally arrived I asked the attendant who really seem underage why was I placed on hold for a long time and she explained that she was looking up the directions on internet. She assigned me my room and the ac unit had the temperature indicators missingand a missing switch. I went back to the office to explain this concern and she just told me to turn the only switch there to the right. Not satisfied with this I asked her to reassigned another room. The new room ac unit was not working. I went down stairs again and she called the manager in charge who checked it and told me everything was working,and she didn't know what was my problem.She also mentioned that if I was not satisfied with my stay I could leave anyway I had already paid online. She said, "We have not charged you for the room, you already paid online so it is your choice to stay or leave whatever you want to do." I expressed to her that she was being rude and unprofessional. Bottom line whatever happened to good ole courtesy and the buyer is always right attitude? Frustrated, and tired for the day the last thing you need is for someone to make you feel unwelcomed!
