Hotel ok but needs much improvement

We sent an email with our arrival information so we could be picked up at the airport. When we arrived no one was there so after a phone call to the hotel they suggested we take a Taxi to the resort. This was a $50.00 taxi ride. We were told that they would work something our when we arrived. After our 4 day stay there nothing was "worked out". The wrong phone number is on their paperwork so i had to call to find the number myself. There is one restaurant on the property with a limited menu. This hotel is about 20 miles from Cairns so not much choice unless you have a rental car. The food was good but the service is EXTREMELY slow and the one night we ate dinner there we did not get salads that we ordered. We ordered a dessert and waited for over 30 mins. for dessert to arrive. The tour desk staff is wonderful and very helpful and they were the bright spot of the whole stay.

Nice hotel, but not for everyone

POSITIVES: - beautiful tropical setting, very serene and relaxing - located on a beautiful beach - nice layout with individual bungalows for privacy - friendly staff and homely feel NEGATIVES: - absolutely no shops or restaurants nearby - only one restaurant in hotel, very expensive, not much selection (but food quality is good) - room floor is made of extremely slippery wood, walking requires extra care - room floor always felt a little sandy/dirty, as if it wasn't cleaned properly every day.
