Trip Type: Special Event Review 2 of 147Horrible Place To Stay
This place was horrible. I know they are a "cheap" place to stay in Kauai but it was really horrible!!!!! The entrance looked like it was stuck in the 70's. When I walked in the room there was an aqua shag carpet. I sat on the foot of the bed and it was like a trampoline it was so springy. The sheets were much like the entrance, stuck in the 70's and had the color of the carpet. The mini fridge was not even plugged in and the bathroom looked like there might have been something growing in it. They said that the room was an ocean view room...not even close. I had to go out on the patio (the railing out there was old and coming off the building) and lean all the way over to see the ocean. I was so disappointed that I left there and went to a much better place. Don't waste your money or your time, don't make the same mistake I did.

Don't expect luxus, but the value for money is fantastic.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 4 of 147Great Location for a low price
Hotel is located right on the beach and is easily found right off the main highway. For the price it can't be beat. Interior is dated but the rooms are large and have a balcony.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 5 of 147Great Location,Ocean front, very affordable place to stay!
We paid very little to stay at this hotel. We stayed many years ago and at that time there was a restaurant that was nice to have onsite. The restaurant is no longer there, but a large condo complex with a restaurant is next door and within walking distance. It has it's own beach with a few lounge chairs and lighting at night. There is a very clean pool, although the pool closes early in the evening. The grounds are clean and neatly trimmed. The room was large with a nice size balcony with chairs and tables over looking the pool and gardens. The decor of the room is dated and dark, but very clean. The bathroom was very clean, no mold or sand. There was a refridgerator and air conditioning. It is not a resort setting, more like a small quiet, private setting. The cost was amazing! I wish they had a place like this on Oahu. I will return again and probably just visit the large resorts for lunch or a drink. It's nice to stay at an affordable place for rest and be able to tour all day and know you are returning to a clean comfortable bed.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 6 of 147old and tired facility
Exterior old and tired, room was clean and ok if you just wanted a place to sleep. Not a place that you would probably want to spend a lot of time at just hanging out at. But, hard to beat the price if you are on a budget.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 7 of 147Had a great time and went back to stay again
Yes, the hotel is a little older with outdated style - but where else in all of Hawaii would you get a room with ocean view and a pool for such a price! There is a really nice little path you can walk on right by the ocean. Went back again a few weeks later.

Trip Type: Family Review 8 of 147Good Budget Hotel
Hawaii hotel rates are very expensive, so for the money we paid for, it was good enough. The room was clean, though the bathroom may need to be renovated. Just don't expect anything more than the basics.

Trip Type: Family Review 10 of 147Nice rooms very close to the sea
This hotel was a real discovery, perfect location both in terms of beach and nearby shopping facilities. The rooms were clean and cozy, the staff correct and the beach was so close we couldn't believe it.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 12 of 147Great lodging and location for the price!
Kauai Sands is the best deal on the island of Kauai - it is clean, comfortable, and worth every penny. The staff was very considerate and gave us a free upgrade both times we stayed and booked with hotels.com. There is no where on any of the islands you can enjoy a place right on the ocean for such a great price. We will definitely be back.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 13 of 147NEEDS NEEDS NEEDS Improvement
We were only staying and using the shower at the facility for a few hours before we caught our airplane. Thank goodness it was for only a few hours. Very ran down, very outdated, not perfectly clean in the bathroom (I won't go into it here). Airconditioner did not work but the noisy fan helped. Staff nice, location good, price too high for the quality. We will check into another location next time. Will not be back.

Trip Type: Romance Review 15 of 147Great location and prince for what you get.
The location of this hotel is great. We spent 4 night here, and it was just what I expected. However, I was surprised to see small roaches roaming in the bathroom and the drawers of the dresser. Also, a lot of ants near the window and the AC... it didn't really bother me because I understand I was in a tropical island where insects are common, but I'm glad my wife didn't see any of these b/c I'm sure she would've freaked out! I just killed the small roaches and let the ants have their fun with whatever they were doing. I also saw a small gecko in the room, but I figured it would help out with the pest control, so I let him stay in the room while I was there. :-) There are no restaurants on site, and they don't serve breakfast... so beware of the high prices for the area in the small coffee shops of Kapaa... Starbucks was actually cheaper!!! Can you believe it? Overall, I was very satisfied with the room... I got a second floor room overlooking the garden on the back, with ocean view if you hang out at the balcony railing :-) and it was very, very quiet, so it was perfect for getting a great night of sleep after being exhausted from the daily activities that Kauai has to offer. Again... right in the middle of the island, 10 minutes away from the airport, and one hour away from both, Ke'e beach to the North, and the last Waimea Canyon lookout to the South.
