    The hotel is beautiful. The vegetation is new and needs to grow and so it looks a little sparse for CR standards. The center entrance area could use some more plants. The gym is good, but they could put out some refreshments like El Suenos Gym. The food is expensive ie coke is about $4, meals about $15 to $20 per meal. It gets expensive with two kids and drinks etc. The hotel is about 18K from Tamarindo and this is mostly a pot holed road. We drove into town all the time to eat. There are lots of great restaurants in town at less price. ie eat@Joes, Nogys, FT's, Citrus. It is a beautiful hotel. People are nice. Kids club is great. The beach is good. We had a nice time.

    Everything was wonderful! Room,pools,beach,spa,restaurants,bars, music & staff. They called us by name after the first evening. It is a great "getaway from it all". It is totally secluded & that's what we were looking for.

Location. The JW Marriott Guanacaste Resort and Spa is located in Santa Cruz, Guanacaste Province, Costa Rica. The property offers a private beach, kayaking and snorkeling on site. The Hacienda Pinilla Golf Course is adjacent to the property.

Hotel Features. The oceanfront hotel offers a 13,500-square-foot health club and spa featuring 22 treatment rooms, saunas, steam rooms, a beauty salon and fitness center. The adjacent 18-hole championship golf course offers ocean views. Non-motorized water sports, such as kayaking and snorkeling, are complimentary. Organized activities are provided for children in the kids' club. The hotel offers four dining options. Mansita Restaurant features international cuisine. Sabanero offers steakhouse dinners influenced by the region. Tamarine serves Asian cuisine during dinner hours. The Azul Grill and Pool Bar serves al fresco lunches and cocktails. The Lobby Bar offers cocktails in a tropical environment. High-speed wired and wireless Internet access is available for a fee throughout the hotel.

Guestrooms. All 310 guestrooms offer private, furnished balconies with ocean views. Room décor includes muted earth tones and chocolate wood furnishings. Beds feature pillowtop mattresses, down comforters and decorative bed scarves. Sliding shutters positioned above soaking tubs provide privacy when shut and outdoor views when opened. Bathrooms feature separate glass-framed, travertine-tiled showers. Other highlights include Bath and Body Works Orange-Ginger Aromatherapy toiletries.

Expert Tip. The spa features a lagoon with palapas, open-air huts with thatched roofs, for outdoor massages.
