Trip Type: Not Provided Review 4 of 120Nice hotel but overly priced
The location of the hotel is fantastic! Howver my room was very small and had a stong sent of chemicals and deodarizer. I was happy that they are a dog friendly hotel but not happy about the $150 pet charge. The hotel staff was fantastic and very helpful and the rooftop bar is beautiful.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 5 of 120Was not what I expected!
I tried to work with this hotel in planning my husband's birthday celebration, but they weren't super helpful. Very polite, but unwilling to do anything to "go the extra mile". They have a car service, which is nice...but they would not allow me to schedule a pick-up. I found this frustrating, since it was an integral part of the birthday surprise. I thought that they could make an exception. Lucky for me, the spa (Well-Heeled, off site) was VERY helpful and actually provided a ride for my husband back to the hotel. When I got to the floor that my room was on, there was a strong smell of sewage in the hallway. Thank goodness it did not carry into the room. The room looked nice, but the bathroom floor was filthy (as evidenced by the towel we used to mop up excess water from the shower). As a note, there is no full length mirror in the room for getting ready to go out. I reserved a daytime cabana for our gathering. There was a $450 minimum bar tab. I was assured that this meant that we would be "taken care of" and that is what I expected. I repeatedly had to go to the bar myself to order drinks and food for the group, which totaled over $800. I was really disappointed in that service. The atmosphere is really cool here, but I expected more for the money that I spent on a Premier Room and a cabana. I wouldn't stay here again. There are so many great hotels in San Diego!!!

Trip Type: With Friends Review 10 of 120Loud on weekends
The Ivy Hotel is a great hotel- if you are staying Thursday-Saturday night, they have a night club and you can hear the music until 1:30 am. So if you are going there for R&R I would not recommend it. If you like to stay up late till all hours of the night, then it is a great place to hang out!

Trip Type: Business Review 11 of 120Needs tons of Improvements
First we booked the hotel and got the special promotional package; it's supposed to include complimentary valet parking, free wi-fi, and supposively a CD compilation to enjoy on the ride home. When we got to the hotel, I was being charged for the valet parking. I brought my dogs along, so I paid for the pet waiver. Our room was clean, but the desk light didn't work properly, the bathroom light flickered constantly, the free wi-fi is supposed to mean wireless frequency, it was a very short cable cord on the desk (if that's their definition of wi-fi, then what's not wireless?), and the hotel room was not sound proof. If a hotel allows pets, it should be sound proof. We got two security guards sent to our room, because there's complaints of our dogs barking (people walking by our room kept knocking on our door). It made me wonder, if they could hear 2 tiny dogs barking, what else did they hear? What's worse, I didn't get the CD, yet I was charged for it. The only thing that I liked about the hotel was their rooftop, I have to admit, it is very beautiful and would make a great place to host a party. Other than that, I would never stay at there again.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 15 of 120horrible experience
Terrible customer service. When we checked in we were told our room wasn't ready but we would receive a phone call from the front desk within an hour. After 2 hours the call never came, so we returned to the desk and were sent to a room. Of course that room had not been cleaned, so I called the front desk to let them know. Another hour went by before we received any response. Later we ordered room service that arrived an hour late. Calls to manager were returned late or not at all. Nice location and beautiful hotel, but service needs a lot of work.
