The hotel is within three blocks of St. Patrick's Cathedral, Fifth Avenue Shopping and Grand Central Station. The Museum of Modern Art and the Broadway Theater District are seven blocks from the hotel.
Hotel Features. Built in 1926 by the New York Central Railroad, the hotel features marble floors, American Federal period furnishings and a filigreed ceiling with lighted glass panels. The Barclay Bar and Grill, located in the hotel's lobby, serves American and Continental cuisine. The property's 1,500-square-foot health club features a sauna and steam rooms. Personal trainers and massages are available. Complimentary wireless Internet access is available in the hotel's lobby and restaurant.
Guestrooms. The hotel's 686 guestrooms feature American Federal period furnishings. Cherry wood furniture, gold-toned bedding and nine foot ceilings are a nod to the hotel's origins. Rooms feature white crown molding. Bathrooms include pedestal sinks, chrome hardware, magnifying makeup mirrors and curved shower rods. Decorative fireplaces are highlighted in select rooms. High-speed wired and television Internet access is available for a fee.
Expert Tip. If a laid-back, melodic evening is on your menu, slip into a booth at the Barclay Bar. A classical guitarist plays music on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evenings.
