Trip Type: Business Review 2 of 173Nice location, overpriced parking!
It was a beautiful hotel yet as I pulled up to the hotel I told the reception bell hop I was a guest with a reservation and asked is parking included and he said yes. Unfortunately, he was wrong and the price for overnight parking was over $50USD! I complained to no avail. The room was beautiful yet noisy and I had no good water pressure in the shower or sink! I feel I was suckered into the high price parking which is written in very tiny print on the ticket the bell hop gave me!

Everything is wonderful about this hotel, with the exception that it is old, consquently you can hear noise from other rooms. However, I would stay there again and again.

Trip Type: Business Review 4 of 173Service was Horrible
Boy has this Hotel gone down hill. The staff was rude, and kept everyone waiting forever for check in and check out. Also, when checking out the desk clerk tried to charge me again for the room. They don't have it together.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 5 of 173Excellent value
Stayed for 3 nights. Excellent hotel in great location on cable car line. Can have some outside noise but depends on room location. Bathroom was very small compared to the rest of the room which had outstanding fixtures and fittings.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 6 of 173Needs Help in Accommodation Requests
We enjoyed our short stay at the Mark Hopkins Hotel and had a outstanding view of the City. However, the hotel did not give us the 2 bed room we requested eventhough at time of check in they confirmed it. They upgraded us to a suite but that did not fulfill our request. We needed 2 beds so they brought in a twin rollaway. I think they could have done better in meeting our request. But the hotel was beautiful. We would give them the benefit of the doubt and try it again.

Trip Type: Business Review 7 of 173Outstanding location and experience
This is a wonderful hotel and they provided a complimentary upgrade to a fabulous suite. It could not have been nicer

Beautiful location, typical old hotel, small room, extra small bath, not exactly sound proof.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 9 of 173Incredible hotel in a beautiful section of town!
This hotel was amazing. A wonderful mix of historic charm and modern amenities. It is located atop Nob Hill...only blocks from many great attractions. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 10 of 173Great Hotel
The only thing bad about this hotel is that it still had regular TV instead of flatscreen which I have come to expect from 4 or 5 star hotels. Also, only 2 elevators serve floors 16 and up (thus sometimes very slow), but that is a charm of being in such a historic building. Breakfast buffet at Top of the Mark was a bit disappointing (for $30), but the view more than made up for the quality of food (food wasn't bad, just not worth $30).

Trip Type: Family Review 11 of 173Not for strollers
This hotel is literally at nob hill- and while its a nice location, its not ideal for young families who have to push a stroller up/down that hill. The cable car line runs right by the front entrance. The hotel was nice, clean. Parking was expensive- almost $60/day and the people at the front desk were not the most friendly/helpful.

Trip Type: Romance Review 12 of 173Extremely Small Room
The Intercontinental Mark Hopkins is in a fabulous location accross the street from the Fairmont on Nobb Hill. The lobby, although rather small, has that old elegant hotel flavor, but the room we stayed in was so small that when they rolled in a room service cart we could barely get around it. The concierge did recommend a fantastic restaurant for dinner but the remaining front desk service took something to be desired.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 13 of 173Decent Hotel
Parking is available at a lot one block away for $40-$45 flat rate. DO NOT park at the hotel. It says it's the same price but will come out to about double. Also, the beds are comfy but pillows are awful. I woke up with such a sore neck because of this. I hate that this hotel is on top of such a steep hill but a cab ride to union square is only about 5 bucks so not too bad.

Trip Type: Romance Review 14 of 173A TRUE CLASSIC
My wife and I stayed here for a week to celebrate our 25th Anniversary. From the minute we walked in, we felt we were in pure luxury. Old time, yes, but a true classic hotel. The staff couldn't have been friendlier. The room was a little small, but typical. The bed was probably the best we have slept on in our travels. The Top of the Mark, while high priced, was worth every penny for the view. The very best thing about this hotel is location, location, location. Great views, cable car stop in front of hotel for both lines, and a beautiful, safe neighborhood. Can't wait to return.
