clean hotel, but some areas smell smokey

This was my first time traveling to Europe, so maybe their star-ratings are different... but I expected a four-star hotel to be more luxurious. It was well-maintained and very clean, though. The only major complaint was that we'd asked for a non-smoking room and were even told at the desk that our room was, in fact, non-smoking, only to go to the sixth floor that reeked. Then we found our reeking room actually had an ashtray in it. The next night we switched to the fifth floor, which was better. Overall, our stay was nice and the hotel staff was very helpful to the non-German-speaking Americans. ;)
