Great Price, Great Location, Great Problem

Was generally happy with the stay until the last day I was there and my bathtub backed up. The maintenance people came to fix it and the smell in the room and the entire 19th floor was of sewer gas. I could not use my room from 7 a.m. until check out at Noon. The front desk apologized but made no accommodations for me during the five hours I could not use the room. The maintenance crew was more concerned about me than the front desk. They apologized profusely and felt bad that they had to take over my room.

Fair to middle

fabulous location. Failed to clean our room one day. Good for the price.

Great Location to Mag. Mile

This was a great hotel location for those wanting quick access to Michigan Av. & Navy Pier. Friendly staff and nice rooms for the money!

Old with a nice facelift

The staff was very courteous and the lobby was very nice. Room was small but I did not come to Chicago to stay in my room all weekend. One downside was when we arrived late Friday night we just wanted to unwind at the bar in the lobby but it was closed by the time we got there (11pm). There was a pamphlet in our room that said it was open to 1am so we were quite disappointed. Great location- we walked to all the shops on the Mag. Mile and even to the Navy Pier.

Good Hotel with Great Staff and Location

The room was not large but nice. The staff was friendly and helpful. Great location for dining and shopping.

Very Small Bedrooms/Bathrooms

Great location, nice lobby and great staff. Down pillows and comfortors are all the rooms have to offer - which most hotels have anyway. The bed was well worn - it sagged in the middle. The queen room was very small and the bathroom was very tiny at 6 feet by 6 feet, this is no exaggeration, I could touch all the walls while standing in the middle of the bathroom. If you are just looking for a nice place to sleep in a great location, it is fine. I would not recommend it for a romantic get a way where you might spend more time in the room than out of it.

Could be a great hotel

The location of this hotel is excellent . Within walking distance to many great places to eat , shop, short cab rides to area attractions and close enough to walk to the red line without hearing the "EL". The hotel lobby looks great and appears as though you were walking into a very modern and updated hotel . The rooms are a different story . The beds were hard and two sheets were used as a cover for the comforter which looked like it had never been washed. The temperature of the room was always very cool even though we had turned up the heat . The toilet paper roll was broken off the wall. Room service is not offered at this hotel ( that could have been my fault for not looking closer). They didn’t t offer bags for the ice bucket which was not washed after we had used it the night before . Overall the room was a disappointment. I have stayed in other hotels in the area for close to the same price and I wouldn’t t stay in this hotel again. If they paid more attention to the details of the room as they do the lobby and main areas this could be a great hotel .

Way too expensive for what you're getting...

I was standing up in a wedding downtown and booked a room here for the evening. Though it was incredibly pricy, I figured it was downtown - what do you expect, it's probably really nice. When we arrived the afternoon of, honestly, I cannot express my disappointment in words. If I would've seen it beforehand I wouldn't have agreed to pay ten percent of the rate. The place had this stench to it that was difficult to choke down. The rooms were less than appealing and I refused to use the shower the next morning. We didn't see any rodents or bugs, but surprisingly so. Service was all over the place - we had one very nice woman assist us when we checked in, but when I placed additional calls (trying to locate a "welcome bag" the bride-to-be had left for me), this was not the case at all. They were quite rude and actually claimed to not have the welcome bag that was left for me, and it wasn't until I persisted and eventually threatened that it was suddenly "found". Although it wasn't a total dump, this place is defnitely NOT worth what they charge. Shady and a bit trashy in certain respects. I'd keep looking if you're reading this!!!

Kind of pricey but right where you want to be

I was a little disappointed that I didn't get a better deal here, especially with past reviews but it was the weekend of the Chicago marathon so I suppose I understand. We arrived right after check-in time so didn't have any problems with our room availability. The front desk staff was pleasant but not overly welcoming. That was fine, they definitely weren't rude. The room was better than I expected after reading some very mixed reviews here and on other travel sites. The room was spacious and the layout was good but I thought we could have used a bench or something other than the desk chair and small chair in the corner to sit our bags on. Turns out there was a luggage stand but it was tucked away behind the ironing board. Found it on our last morning there. The bathroom was small as stated by most but it's no smaller than our bath at home (gasp!) and served the purpose. We had no problems with our knees hitting the vanity as some have said. The tub wasn't deep but was long and we needed hot soaks after all of our walking around! My husband thinks that the next remodel they might just use a pedestal sink to make the room feel more spacious. The towels were clean and fluffy (did I mention plentiful?) and the shampoo/conditioner/soaps were yummy! There was no noise that we could tell. Even the street noise was pretty minimal but we were on the 14th floor. The 22nd floor balcony view was fantastic...don't forget to go up and see it. Our sheets were soft and clean and the bed was firm. We weren't huge fans of the pillows and there were only three but i'm sure we could have had more had we asked. All in all we had two good nights' sleep there and enjoyed being so close to a lot of the places that were important to us (Michigan Ave and Gino's East at 162 E. Superior...pizza!). If we could get a better deal, we would definitely come back.
